American Idol - Peter's Reviews

American Idol - Finale Rumors

Here's some various American Idol finale news (updates as they come in):

  • The big rumor is that the cast of Dreamgirls will all perform on the finale. That's fine but I'd rather see Prince again.
  • Oprah wants Jordin Sparks to win.
  • Simon isn't sure but thinks Jordin is the better singer but Blake Lewis is the better entertainer.
  • Simon thought the whole "vote for Sanjaya" thing was funny but is glad he's gone. Look for Sanjaya to make an appearance in the finale.

American Idol News - Paula Breaks Her Nose

Paula_Abdul_Crying_0103American Idol judge, Paula Abdul got off-balance while her pet chihuahua was at her feet and in the act of avoiding stepping on her pet, Abdul fell and broke her nose. She also broke a toe and get pretty bruised up. I've seen pictures of her and she looked OK, although she admitted that makeup was covering up some nasty bruising on her face. Anyone who has had a broken nose or any facial trauma will know that sometimes bruising and swelling doesn't happen until the next day so we'll be looking closely at Paula's face tonight! Click here to comment on this story.

Video: American Idol's Constantine Maroulis Interviewed

Here's an interview with American Idol finalist, Constantine Maroulis where he talks about Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, his new CD, his role on the Bold and the Beautiful and more. Click here to comment on this video.

American Idol's Producer Nigel Lythgoe Interviewed

Here's an interesting interview with the producer of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, Nigel Lythgoe. He talks about the American Idol finale, Melinda, Simon and much more. Click here to comment on this video.

This Week's American Idol News - 07/21/07

Jordin_Sparks_03Well we're already at the week of the American Idol Finale. What's in store for the two finalists, Jordin Sparks (who will probably win) and Blake Lewis? To the left is a picture of Jordin Sparks as a young girl. Click here to view more pictures of the American Idol stars as kids at TMZ.

  • Sanjaya Malakar claims that when he was on the show he wanted to sing Janis Joplin's "Mercedes Benz" but the American Idol producers wouldn't let him because Ford is a sponsor of the show.
  • Kimberly Locke releases her CD and gets mediocre reviews.
  • Paris Bennett releases her CD to mediocre reviews. She at least attempts some dance music and grown up fare but is anyone believing it? Personally, I think the duet with Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais completely makes her CD a joke.
  • Phil Stacey got the OK from the Navy to go on the American Idol tour. I wonder if they're forcing him to wear his uniform just like he has on all of his appearances since he got booted from Idol?

Ryan Seacrest gets the first interview with Melinda Doolittle after she got voted off of American Idol last night. Click here to comment.

American Idol - Shocking Results Show 05/16/07

Melinda_Doolittle_01By the look on everyone's face last night, Melinda Doolittle getting voted off of American Idol came as a shock to all, including Simon, Melinda and Blake. That means that the final two will be Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.

It hardly seems fair that the best singer was voted off. Melinda never seemed to have a bad performance the entire show which is probably a first. Not even Kelly Clarkson went the whole show without one bad performance.

Simon_Cowell_03Is it just me or does this season now seem like a slam-dunk for Jordin? She has the looks, youth and voice that she seems like the perfect person to be the American Idol. Blake, while talented might not appeal to as many people as Jordin. I guess my pick will still be Jordin but I can guarantee that more people will be looking forward to seeing what Blake will do with a solo career.

Perhaps the real question that needs to be asked is, "Who has the most promising career out of the top three?" Clearly, Blake was the only contestant this season who tried anything really original. Jordin and Melinda turned every style into R&B. While they were great at doing so, it wasn't exciting as waiting for Blake to remix a song into something cool, although it didn't always work. I liked how he would take chances. The last guy to do this was Chris Daughtry and his career is going great. I think Jordin has a good chance at a career but I'm not exactly what Melinda can do that will make millions of fans shell out money. We'll have to see. Click here to comment.

Video: Debra Byrd - American Idol's Voice Coach

Debra Byrd has been the vocal coach for American Idol since the first season with Kelly Clarkson. She's helped all of the contestants deal with vocal problems and gave them the confidence to do their best. In this video interview, Debra talks about Kelly Clarkson's voice, dealing with the different problems that arise on American Idol and more. She's also selling a DVD to help people with their voices

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 07/16/07

Blake_Lewis_01The people over at American Idol really are setting Melinda up to be the winner. They placed her in the last spot, gave her good songs to sing and praised her heavily while criticizing Blake and Jordin even after they gave good performances. Needless to say, the oddsmakers are heavily favoring Melinda. Right now, Blake might be in the bottom but not by much. Who does American Idol want to win? It looks like Melinda but I think that Jordin Sparks could make more money than Melinda because she's young, pretty and has a great voice. Blake probably would have a better solo career if he didn't win. He could pull a Chris Daughtry and release an album without the pressure of being the AI winner. Look for Blake to go home tonight. This Week's American Idol News - 05/15/07

This week the final three American Idol contestants, Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks will perform 3 songs each! No word on what styles they'll be singing. Tomorrow's show will feature performances by Elliott Yamin and Maroon 5. Click on the article title to comment.

Here's some random American Idol News

  • After getting nothing but negative reviews over his darker hair, Blake might go back to blonde.
  • Tamyra Gray will join the cast of Rent. Too bad her solo career never took off since she's one of the best to ever compete on the show.
  • Taylor Hicks' career is dying as quick as it started.
  • The Howard Stern show is claiming that American Idol staff knew LaKisha was going to lose at the start of the week and even booked tickets for her to go home before the performance show aired. They claim that someone inside the organization says that the show is rigged.
  • LaKisha is in love with Ryan Seacrest. She's not only delusional but probably barking up the wrong tree.
  • Chris Richardson might be dating Alaina Alexander as they've been spotted out together. Nice one Chris!
  • According to People, William Hung claims that he's earned over $1 million since his appearance on Idol.

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 05/09/07

LaKisha_Jones_02Is there anyone who doesn't think that it's finally LaKisha Jones' turn to go home? She's proven herself to be one -dimensional even though that single dimension sounds pretty fantastic. I think very few of this year's contestants have shown any versatility at all. Anyway, everyone including me is expecting that it's LaKisha's last week.

See ya, LaKisha.

WagerWeb.com Predicts Jordin Sparks Will Win American Idol

Jordin_Sparks03There are a lot of people out there who are predicting that Melinda Doolittle will win American Idol but who better to listen to than the people who are actually in in the betting business like WagerWeb? They're predicting that Jordin Sparks will win. After last night's performance, I totally agree. She's not only doing everything that the other contestants are doing but she's also spending hours every day doing schoolwork! Heck, if I were here parents, I might just give her a pass on school until the show ends. If you think you know the winner, are you willing to put money on it?

From WagerWeb: Blake Lewis, the 25-year-old from Bothell, Washington, blasted out a surprisingly good rendition of the Bon Jovi standard "You Give Love a Bad Name". As the last man standing (literally) in this competition, Lewis could ride a vote all the way to the final two, or end up getting squashed next week if he delivers a lackluster performance. Lewis is a tough call at +400.
Then there's Lakisha Jones. The 27 -year-old from Fort Meade, Maryland, may have the best singing voice left in this competition.
Despite the great vocals don't be surprised if Lakisha is handed her walking papers next week even though the theme (Boogie/Dance/Disco) should play to her strength. The best singer hardly ever wins this popularity contest. Lakisha is our long shot at +1200.
Last is Melinda Doolittle, and at 29 years of age she is the oldest contestant remaining. No matter how many complements Doolittle gets from the judges, she still sports extreme humility (some are calling it an act) that would make a Saint proud. Playing the humility card hasn't hurt Doolittle at all and she's actually one of the favorites. An Internet poll asking who people believe will win out of the Final Four has Doolittle leading with a whopping 56% of the votes. We'll keep Melinda in second for now, at +125.

Video: American Idol's Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey Performance and Interview

Here's one of the first post-American Idol performances of Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson.  Be sure to watch until the end for a funny vocal ad-lib during Chris' song.  Good luck to both of them on solo careers.

Video: Simon Cowell's Girlfriend & Mom Interviewed

After last week's comments by Ryan Seacrest that insulted Simon Cowell's girlfriend, Terri Seymour is interviewed trying to get down to the meaning of the insult.

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 05/02/07

It was a surprising night because it showed that none of the singers could do a convincing rock vocal.  The only way they could tackle the songs last night was for each to change the song to their style.  While this doesn't exactly show much versatility, certain singers like Blake Lewis took chances and really stood out

Now, who is going home?  I predict LaKisha Jones.  Her and Chris Richardson will definitely be in the bottom two but combined with last week's bottom two of Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey, I'm not sure how the votes will fall.  We'll see.  I predict LaKisha, Phil and Chris to be in danger of going home with the probability going toward LaKisha.

This week's American Idol news:

  • Sanjaya Malakar's mom has been busted in the past for possession of 310 marajuana plants!
  • Sanjaya's sister, Shyamali probably had knowledge of the plants and probably indulged.
  • Gina Glocksen wants her buddy, Chris Richardson to win.
  • Pink and Gwen Stefani were cut from the Idol Gives Back show due to time, not to crappy performances.

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 04/25/07

I think that LaKisha has looked exhausted the last two shows and I believe her votes have really gone down.  I think she might be the one going home tonight but it also might be Chris Richardson.

Tonight on American Idol...

Well, if you believe TMZ.com, Elvis will make a return from the dead to do a duet with Celine Dion . Whoopeee. The good news is that American Idol uses its power for good with a two part "Idol Gives Back" Theme.

Here's some short rumors from the past week:

  • Katherine McPhee voted for Sanjaya.
  • Paula isn't concerned about Sanjaya going home.
  • A delusional Sanjaya was on the Ellen show saying that Vote for the Worst and Howard Stern didn't have any affect on the votes.
  • Phil Stacey is the new Vote for the Worst poster boy.

Click here to see what the contestants are singing tonight (spoiler alert)

Video: Sanjaya Malakar on the Tonight Show

Sanjaya Malakar appeared on the Tonight show to do a little comedy bit with Donny Osmond.

Video: Sanjaya Malakar's First Post-American Idol Interview

There's actually been a lot of speculation about Sanjaya being voted off American Idol.  Some refuse to believe that the kid who placed in the top three just last week got the fewest amount of votes just one week later.  Could it have been his growing ego?  Simon's harsh comments?  Or could it have been the American Idol producers who have the ultimate authority to manipulate the vote any way they see fit?

In this interview, Sanjaya talks about his aspirations as a hairdresser, model, singer and Broadway star.  Before you're too rough on this kid's delusions, just remember that he's only 17 and remember how dopey you were at that age (assuming you're older).

Dial Idol Predicts Sanjaya Will Go Home Tonight!

Sanjaya03Could this actually be Sanjaya's last night on American Idol? Simon Cowell really seemed to take off the gloves and let Sanjaya and America have it, saying that this whole "vote for Sanjaya" thing was fun but now we have to get back to what American Idol really is, a singing competition.

According to DialIdol.com, Sanjaya got the lowest amount of votes last night. If they're correct, and they claim to have an 87% accuracy rate for last season, he could be gone tonight!

DialIdol01

Dial Idol measures the amount of busy signals to determine how many votes all of the contestants are getting. Assuming that their calculations are correct, it proves that the votes are directly affected by the previous night's performance. Phil Stacey, who has been consistently in the bottom 3 got the most amount of votes. Pretty interesting. If they're right, Dial Idol will instantly gain a lot of credibility.

Thoughts On Last Night's American Idol - 04/17/07

SimonRollsEyes01It was an odd night for American Idol. A lot of the singers seemed off, possibly the only one that had an excuse was Chris Richardson who claimed to have friends who went to Virginia Tech. First off, let me address the controversial Simon Cowell snub to Chris. This morning Ryan Seacrest and Simon were talking about the incident that looked like Simon rolled his eyes when Chris mentioned the Virginia Tech shooting but Ryan went on to say that the way the stage is set, most of the time they can't even hear each other. In fact, many times the contestants can't always hear the criticism from the judges. Simon facial expressions were just him replying to Chris' lame comment, "I was trying to sing nasal", not his VT comment. And that "nasal" comment was stupid. That's like trying to say singing out of key is a style.
Anyway, the real big news is that Nigel Lithgow, the producer of American Idol already knows who's getting kicked off tonight and he said that we might be surprised. Could it finally be Sanjaya's night to go home or is LaKisha Jones going home? LaKisha had a bad night. She looked tired and uninspired. Usually, one bad performance wouldn't send her home but this season, no one is safe!

Could it finally be Sanjaya's night to go home or is LaKisha Jones going home?

My prediction for who is going home tonight is LaKisha01either LaKisha or Chris Richardson. My pick for the best of the night and the one who should win remains Jordin Sparks. Jordin was so popular last night that even the dress she wore, a Nicole Miller dress, sold out at Saks Fifth Avenue. Click here to check out the dress online.

Video: Taylor Hicks Gives Words of Advice to Sanjaya Malakar

Taylor Hicks was one of the first American Idol contestants to be pushed by Vote For the Worst so he's the most logical one to give advice to Sanjaya Malakar. Be sure to watch this video all the way to the end to find out what Sanjaya's dream job is.

Video: American Idol's Haley Scarnato on the Tonight Show

The latest American Idol castoff, Haley Scarnato, appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, making fun of the show, Simon Cowell and Sanjaya Malakar.

Ex-American Idol Contestant, Paris Bennett Votes For Sanjaya

Paris_Bennett01Do you remember Paris Bennett from last season's American Idol? Well if you do, you might be amused to hear that she's backing Sanjaya and she actually voted for him!

"We want to see him [Sanjaya] win because it'll kind of prove that 'American Idol' is kind of losing its taste," says Bennett, "it kinda isn't going for talent anymore and more for popularity."

In a recent interview at TMZ, she claimed that she enjoys that so many people like Vote for the Worst are making fun of American Idol because they're not picking the best singers. Strange that she just noticed this. After the first season, the show has just been a big popularity contest and fallen into the routine "reality TV" formula. In the interview she sounded a little bitter and also didn't really appreciate the publicity the show gave her.

I hate when the ex-Idol contestants get so full of themselves and act as if they would've become famous without the show. If it weren't for American Idol, I doubt any of these contestants would've made it. Geez, it's ok to not like the experience but they should give credit where credit is due!

Video: American Idol's Haley Scarnato Interview

Haley Scarnato was the latest to go home this week on American Idol. She seems like a nice girl who just didn't quite have the vocal chops to stay in the competition. In this interview she talks about Simon's comments about her and planning her marriage.

Video: Gina Glocksen Interview and Performance

Here's an interview with Gina Glocksen who got booted off American Idol last week.

Will Sanjaya Go Home Tonight?

Sanjaya04I'm predicting that Sanjaya might actually land in the bottom 3 tonight. Why? Because his look last night was a little more mature with the facial hair and toned down attitude. I think it was the wild hair and the youthfulness that got him the votes from all of the young kids. Sure, all of the Vote For The Worst and Howard Stern fans will flood the lines but I think it's the young girl vote that keeps him on top. Of course, not being a young girl myself, I could be totally wrong. We'll see.
One thing's for sure, Simon Cowell will not quit if Sanjaya wins as earlier reported. Why? Because he has a contract and when interviewed, talked about the contract and said that any rumors of him leaving were nonsense.

Peter's Reviews's 2007 American Idol Contestant Myspace Guide

Here's a list of some of this year's contestant's web sites. Most are run by the actual person but a few are run by a friend of theirs or was set up by American Idol. If you know of any that I missed, e-mail me or leave a comment.

Updated 04/09/07

Who Will Go Home On Tonight's American Idol - 04/04/2007

PhilStacy02If you're the type to believe that Simon Cowell has power to send contestants home by what he says, Phil Stacey Gina Glocksen will be going home tonight. Phil was definitely the most criticized singer of last night and he's been in the bottom three several times.

Sanjaya seems to be completely bulletproof when it comes to the judges' comments. Even when they've criticized him, people feel sorry for him and vote more. Couple this with VoteForTheWorst .com and Howard Stern'sfans voting for Sanjaya, he should be safe for quite a while.

The only thing that oculd derail Sanjaya Malakar's Idol reign is that he's starting to get a little cocky. Too cocky and the fickle crowd will turn on him. Tune in tonight to see who really goes home.

Tony Bennett Will Be On American Idol Tonight

Tony_Bennett01Wow, American Idol really has its finger on the pulse of today's young American. They're going to have the AI kids sing Tony Bennett songs. The 80 year old Bennett is as relevant to today's music as... well, Tony Bennett. Don't get me wrong, Tony is an awesome performer and a legend but none of these kids are going to release a big band, oldies, jazz or standardards CD. At least not for 30 or so years.

American Idol really has to embrace the current trends and not rely so much on a back catalog of music that they have an interest in financially. Maybe if the show were more exciting and current, we wouldn't have to sabotage the show with people like Sanjaya.

In the meantime, if you want to hear the old school standards done right, stick with Tony Bennett's older material.

Video: American Idol's Chris Sligh Post-Idol Interview

In this post-Idol interview, Chris Sligh shows a touch of sour grapes, claiming he was unhappy and didn't want to be there. What you might not know is that Chris wanted to quit American Idol a few weeks ago. He wasn't enjoying himself and claimed that he only tried out for the show on a whim. I wonder if the whole Sanjaya thing made him feel like it wasn't a serious competition. Chris ended up staying because he wanted to go on the Idol tour and anyone who quits wouldn't be allowed on the tour.

Also, at the end of the last show, he threw down his microphone. Why? On Ryan Seacrest's radio show he claimed it was a joke that they all thought the funny way to go out would be to spike the mic and let it feed back as you walk off. Unfortunately, most weren't in on this "joke" and thought it was a sign of disrespect.

After Idol, Chris will go home and spend time with his wife until he returns for the finale and the tour. If you're interested in hearing more from this talented singer, check out his band, Half Past Forever.

What's Up With Sanjaya's Hair?

SanjayaMalakar02I'm almost at a loss of words about Sanjaya Malakar's hair on tonight's American Idol. Clearly he's given up on working on his singing and now just focuses on his image. Even Simon refused to comment on his performance.

SanjayaMalakar03Will Sanjaya survive another week? I'm not sure but VoteForTheWor st.com and Howard Stern will be pushing for us to vote for the vocally challenged youth so we can enjoy his shenanigans for another week. What more could he possibly do with his hair? Hopefully for his last week, he'll go all out and shave his head.

Gwen Stefani to Appear on Tonight's American Idol

Gwen_Stefani_01Singer Gwen Stefani is set to appear on American Idol tonight. She'll probably do the usual coaching of the top 10 contestants but I don't really think she's the best person to be a singing coach for any of them. However, she has great stage presence but I'm not sure if that's something that can exactly be taught.

I'm also one of the few who preferred her work with No Doubt to the cookie-cutter pop/dance music that she's churning out now. Gwen will mentor the kids tonight (Tuesday) and she'll perform "The Sweet Escape" with Akon on the results show, Wednesday.

Click on the iTunes logo below to check out Gwen's music

The Current American Idol Betting Odds

According to Bodog.com, the bottom 2 for American Idol are Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato. The favorites to win are Melinda Dolittle , Jordin Sparks and Lakisha Jones. Of course we all know that this could change with next week's performance show. Also, don't count out the crazy support for Sanjaya Malakar to win.

Who was That Crying Girl On American Idol?

Ashley_Ferl_03aEat your heart out David Hasslehoff, American Idol has a new crybaby to talk about. If you watched this week's American Idol, you saw this young 13 year -old cry her eyes out when her favorite singer, Sanjaya Malakar took the stage but did you know that her crying on camera was planned by the show?

Sitting in the audience during rehearsals, she was spotted crying by a sharp-eyed American Idol producer and invited back with a seat in the front and directions for cameras to go to her when Sanjaya sang. This turned her into the talk of the show and part of a barb directed at Sanjaya by Simon Cowell.

Ashley_Ferl_02aI sometimes wonder if this was a good thing for this girl. Won't she be embarrassed that so many people in the media are making fun of her? Won't this come back to haunt her in later years?

For now, the 13-year-old Ashley Ferl is enjoying appearing on a few radio and TV shows and she's become the star of her Riverside, CA neighborhood. I'm sure that the American Idol producers will bring her back. If not next week, she'll be there for the finale. Why not put her next to David Hasslehoff and right behind Paula. I'm sure her family is shopping around for an agent for Ashley.

Video: Blake Lewis Before American Idol

Even though Blake Lewis seems to overuse the whole beatbox thing, he's still a talented guy. This video is a performance he did before he was on American Idol. He's my top pick of all of the guys to win. Blake performed this song, She Loves The Way on Halloween last year at Columbia City Theatre.

Who's The Odds On Favorite to Win American Idol?

MelindaDolittle02

According to most of the online betting web sites, Melinda Dolittle is the odds on favorite to win this year's American Idol. I think she seems nice and she has a good voice but I don't think she's the best singer or most interesting personality on the show.

My current favorite to win is Jordin Sparks. I think Jordin has all the tools not only to win but to sell a lot of CDs too.

The great thing about American Idol is that the show could change as time goes by. Certain singers can do better and singers that we thought were great might fumble over styles that aren't familiar to them.

And Tonight's Bottom Three Will Be...

Sanjaya Malakar of course. Phil Stacey and Haley Scarnato or possibly Stephanie Edwards. Who will go home? I hope Sanjaya will be around but I think this might be his last night.

Is Sanjaya Going Home on Tonight's American Idol?

SanjayaMalakar01

Love him or hate him, Sanjaya Malakar is still on the show but will he go home tonight? Personally I hope so but I do agree with VoteForTheWorst .com and Howard Stern who think that it would be funnier if Sanjaya won.

Some funny things about Sanjaya:

  • Simon Cowell claims that he'll quit if Sanjaya wins
  • The American Idol hairdresser says that no guy in the history of the show has been this consumed with his hair and said that Sanjaya comes in with a clear idea of what he wants his hair to look like. The hairdresser even said Sanjaya asked for the Farah Fawcett look.

Tune in tonight to see if he's still there.

Video: Brandon Rogers Talks About Being Voted Off American Idol

Brandon Rogers was one of the nicest guys to ever compete on American Idol. In this interview, Brandon claims that he knew he would be voted off the show when he forgot his words and explains why he forgot. He was talented but unfortunately didn't stand out enough for the American audience. I wish him the best.

Thoughts on Last Night American Idol 03/13/07

As much as I think Diana Ross is a legitimate legend, watching the American Idol contestants cover her songs bored me. In a way, starting with an R&B day, strongly favors certain contestants and definitely puts others in a style that they're clearly not good at.
A few contestants stood out but some like Sanjaya were terrible. Sporting what looked like a perm, Sanjaya limped through yet another performance and got the most bashing from the judges. I wonder if there are still enough young girls out there that will keep him on the show.
Haley Scarnato gave a decent performance showing vulnerability and a good amount of cleavage might win some people over. After being destroyed by Paula and Randy, Simon actually complimented her. Her insecurity might make her get voted off.
Gina Glocksen, Phil Stacey might also be at risk for going home but it's time for Sanjaya to take that plane trip back to Washington.

Video: American Idol - The Judges Talk About The Last Elimination

Here's a clip from Good Day LA where Terri Seymour (Simon's girlfriend) talks about some of the behind the scenes stuff including who got voted off, Sanjaya's hair, Antonella Barba's photos, Terri's relationship with Simon and the American Idol charity. You'll also see Simon interviewed right after last night's Idol.

Video: Antonella Barba, Sundance Head, Jared Cotter and Sabrina Sloan Interviewed

I think everyone was surprised at 3 out of the 4 people voted off of American Idol last night! I was since I had predicted that Sabrina Sloan could've gone to the top 5 or beyond. Antonella Barba getting voted off wasn't a surprise but Sundance Head and Sabrina Sloan should've stayed longer. Jared Cotter was surprised and angry to be voted off but while he's a nice kid and has a good look, his vocals weren't great. If it wasn't this week it would be the next. With his looks, he really should try acting. I hope Sabrina can get some sort of record deal but I don't think she was around long enough to make that much of a long-lasting impact. Good luck to all four!

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight?

Quite simple: for the guys, Sanjaya will go home.   He's a nice kid but a disappoinment as far as his singing. Also Phil Stacey will go home.  Not for lack of talent, he just doesn't stand out like the rest of the guys.

For the women, we'll finally see Antonella Barba go home.  Pictures or no pictures, she would go home since her voice just can't compare with the rest.  And it's a tossup whether Haley Scarnato or Gina Glocksen will go.  Why?  Because I had to look up their names. Nice girls with talent but on American Idol, you have to really make people remember you.

Video: Justin Guarini & Kimberly Caldwell Talk About American Idol

Remember Justin Guarini from the first season? In this video he comments on the current season of American Idol along with Kimberly Caldwell. They make some interesting comments and even though neither of them hit it big, they seem really grateful to the show which is nice to hear for a change! The comedian is a bit annoying since you can tell he's just waiting for a chance to shoehorn a Simon impersonation into the conversation.

Video: American Idol's Alaina Alexander

Alaina Alexander was the first contestant to really cry after losing. Anyone could understand her emotion after getting booted off the show. I'm just surprised that most of the AI contestants don't break down during their farewell songs. Anyway, this is a video from Good Day LA where Alaina talks about her AI experience, getting booted, crying on the air and also the Antonella Barba scandal.

Video: American Idol's Senior Citizen, Sherman Howard -Interview

Sherman Howard got a petition to audition for American Idol even though he was way too old. Why did he do it? It was something to cheer up his wife who was sick at the time. Unfortunately, she passed away just before he got his audition so his performance became a loving tribute to her.
This interview took place on Good Day LA and he sings some more and tells the whole story about his wife. Pretty touching stuff.

Video: American Idol's Sarah Goldberg Gets Voice Lessons

Do you remember this delusional girl, Sarah Goldberg? She went on American Idol saying that they should teach her to sing and that she could be the first Idol who learned to sing on the show. The thing is she was a terrible singer. When rejected she started screaming at the judges in a classic American Idol moment.
The LA morning show, the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet decided to give her voice lessons. Watch the video to see if she improves any.

Will Courtney Love Replace Paula Abdul on American Idol?

Courtney_Love_01There are a lot of rumors going on about American Idol considering replacing Paula Abdul with Courtney Love.  Will it happen?  Absolutely not.  Despite Paula's bizarre behavior, she brings a lot of publicity to the show.  If Idol were ashamed of Paula, they'd replace her with a more normal host not someone with a history of drug use and general mayhem like Courtney Love.

Don't get me wrong, I've known about Love a long time before she was famous and she would be awesome on the show.  Sure, she's a wild card but she has an energy and honesty that would be fun to watch.

Click here to read more about this rumor at US Magazine.

Taylor_Hicks_03.serendipityThumbTrue to form, Taylor Hicks' first words after being named 2006's American Idol were, "soul patrol, soul patrol". Perhaps not the most humble or thankful acceptance speech but why change now?

It looks like the soul patrol really came through for Taylor Hicks. This came as a surprise to no one since Simon pretty much named him the American Idol on Tuesday's show.

It's really hard to predict what Taylor's original music will sound like since AI will control his CD completely. It'll take until he goes to another label before he'll enjoy the creative freedom to take the helm of his own career.

I give a lot of credit to American Idol for putting on the best American Idol finale ever! The last two years, I thought were dull. Last night's finale was absolutely killer, especially with the appearance by Prince. I predicted an appearance a long time ago but I didn't expect it in the finale.

Some interesting American Idol Finale facts:

  • The card that Ryan read to announce the winner was blank after the year when Clay Aiken peeked at it. He was fed the winner through an earpiece.
  • Did you notice David "Knight Rider/Baywatch" Hasslehoff crying when Taylor won?
  • Katherine McPhee's family blew kisses to her as Taylor sang the song after winning.
  • Katherine McPhee has a boyfriend.
  • Chris Daughtry and Ace Young are still friends.
  • The 2003 American Idol finale is the only one with better ratings.
  • More Idol facts soon...

American_Idol_Final_2_0202Don't forget to tune into the American Idol 2006 finale tonight! Remember that it's 2 hours long and starts at 8:00pm! They're planning a bunch of guests and surprises so it'll definitely be worth watching.

OK, so you know who's probably going to win. Simon pretty much gave the win to Taylor last night and also brought up that Taylor Hicks got the royal treatment in his hometown while Katherine got a reception in a high school gym. But as we've learned from Chris Daughtry, anything can happen.

In a funny note, someone reported on the news that former American Idol contestant Corey Clark was spotted outside selling his CD in front of a local Coffee Bean. If you don't remember, he was the one who claimed to have an affair with Paula Abdul.

Who Will Win American Idol 2006?

Taylor_Hicks_02Last night was full of good performances. I thought Katherine McPhee did a great job with all of her songs but for some reason the judges have been hard on her the whole season. I don't think she lived up to her potential and I think she can get better. Taylor Hicks on the other hand has been the darling of this year's American Idol competition. He was definitely going for it on every performance.
I really wanted to like Taylor but I was getting so annoyed with him yelling "soul patrol, soul patrol" after every song. He did such a great job on his last song but instead of letting the moment set in and sealing his victory, we heard "soul patrol, soul patrol, soul patrol.. Whooooo". I think he really ruined what could've been his best moment in the show. It's because of this that I really hope Katherine McPhee wins. I know that's a lame reason for wanting anyone to win but hey, that's just how I feel.
I miss Chris Daughtry.

Daniel_Powter_01Update: I forgot to add that I thought Daniel Powter did a killer version of his song "Bad Day". As much as I grew to hate that song because they were overplaying it, I enjoyed watching him play and sing and show an example of star quality without mugging for the camera. Click on the iTunes link to check out his single Bad Day.

American Idol Releases Season 5 Encores CD

American_Idol_EncoresJust in time for the American Idol, Season 5 finale comes a CD of the top 12 contestants. Nothing to really get too excited about here, just cover versions of the songs that they performed on the show. I'd rather hear the live versions direct from the show. One thing that the TV show Rock Star: INXS did well was offer iTunes downloads of the contestant's live performances the day after the show.

Here's the track listings for the American Idol Season 5 Encores CD:

1. What About Love - Melissa McGhee
2. Superstition - Bucky Covington
3. Every Woman - Mandisa
4. Wanted Dead Or Alive - Chris Daughtry
5. Father Figure - Ace Young
6. Takin’ It To The Street - Taylor Hicks
7. Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Lisa Tucker
8. Walkin’ After Midnight - Kellie Pickler
9. Moody’s Mood For Love - Elliott Yamin
10. Think - Katharine McPhee
11. Midnight Train To Georgia - Paris Bennett

This Tuesday's American Idol - The Final 2 Perform

American_Idol_Final_2American Idol has been working on keeping their final two shows a secret.  There have been rumors of Katherine McPhee performing a duet with Meatloaf but that let's hope that there are better surprises than that in store for us.

I did my best to get my inside contact to leak some information but he (or she) said that they weren't allowed to leak anything specific for the finale.  I guess we'll just have to tune in tonight to see.

Former American Idol Contestant Brenna Gethers Speaks Her Mind

Brenna_GethersDo you remember Brenna Gethers?  She was the spunky American Idol contestant who went out of her way to put on a show for the AI fans.  She was voted off early but she was probably one of the most memorable contestants American Idol has ever had.  Brenna knew about reality TV and played up her personality for all that was worth.  Unfortunately, that might have turned off some viewers who wanted more singing and less attitude.

In a recent interview with Vote For The Worst, she claims American Idol held her back because she's eclipse the other contestants and that the contract she signed has prevented her taking advantage of some possible job opportunities.  She also discussed her feud with Paris Bennett.

Teri Hatcher and Ryan Seacrest Feuding?

Teri_Ryan02According to US Weekly, Teri Hatcher and American Idol's Ryan Seacrest are still at odds after he supposedly dumped her on the phone on March 25.  They're reporting that they haven't talked since and there might be some weirdness between them when Teri will attend the American Idol finals this week.

Don't worry Teri, I don't think Ryan will stop and interview you although it would rock if they placed her on the aisle or behind Simon because you know Simon would have fun bringing her in just to torture Seacrest.

Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks Speak Up

Katherine_and_TaylorAmerican Idol finalists Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks gave a great interview to USA Today. I'll quickly give you the best parts of the interview.

Is Katherine too confident?

"I think that's ridiculous to say — too confident? People don't realize that what they see on TV is all they see. I have never once gone, 'Oh, I'm going to win this thing.' I think the fact that I have not is why I'm still here. I think the people who get too confident, their fans don't vote as much… The judges have been really hard on me the last couple of weeks. ... It's anybody's game and I've always thought that from the beginning."

Was she act too happy when Elliott was sent home?

"I didn't hear about that. But I figured that might be the case. It's an awkward thing. You're excited and in the top two, but someone's going home… It's a ridiculous notion to me that you can't be excited to be in the top two…I made it through! And it was such a close margin. And I apologize for looking happy, I guess."

How does Katherine stay in shape? How does she stay in shape?

While her favorite past time is dance class, she says, "I haven't worked out in four months. I feel like I'm a big blob. I don't have any muscle in my body. I've definitely not been dieting. I'm an anti -dieter. I don't think it works. I've totally struggled with body weight. I was up and down with my weight. I'd get good feedback from bookers — we'd love to book her, but… it's a shame you have to be so skinny and so in shape. I met a dietitian before American Idol and she just taught me to eat normally and have peace with food. Now I just don't have any kind of emotional eating anymore. I still have weight on me. I'm still not what Hollywood wants — stick skinny. But I'm happy with food and able to eat and that's what women should be able to do — eat food and I don't think twice about it. After American Idol, I'd love to have a trainer who gets me to the gym two or three times a week because I surely don't do it on my own."

Was Taylor Hicks' Harmonica taken from him?

"It's a singing competition. That's what I was told. It's a singing compeition. … I love to play guitar and harmonica. I'm going to aactually be able to play some guitar and harmonica when the contest is over. There might be a harmonica solo or two in the finale."

What his dad said to him when he told him he was trying out for American Idol.

"When I told my dad I'm trying out for American Idol, he said, 'Why don't you just go buy a lottery ticket?'"

What is the soul patrol?

"I just believe in the soul of music. It could be rap, hip hop, it could be anything. As long as it can translate a feeling — that's kind of where I come from in music. The Soul Patrol has got so many different meanings and yet it's just an idea of having more soul and depth."
It's also the name of his fans."They're a great bunch of fans. It just kind of fit from the beginning. There are so many things I'm looking forward to doing post-American Idol tour. I've got some really cool ideas for the Soul Patrol and the theme of Soul Patrol when I tour."

Former American Idol Contestants Perform At Radio Station Concert

Ayla_BrownAt a recent concert for radio station Kiss 108 in Boston, three former American Idol contestants performed. Bo Bice, Mario Vazquez and Ayla Brown (pictured here) rocked the first half of the concert with Bice playing some songs from his new CD. I hope Ayla Brown can work out something with her career because I liked her.  She had a sweet personality and a lot of potential.  I wish she had stayed on American Idol just a few more weeks to give her a chance to grow.

From the Boston Herald: The first half of the KISS show was dominated by former "American Idol" hopefuls Mario Vazquez, Bo Bice and Wrentham homegirl Ayla Brown. Last year's "Idol" runner-up Bice gave the most assured performance of the three, strapping on a guitar and belting out tunes from his record, including "The Real Thing." The long-coiffed rocker got his freak on at the end of his set with a Lynyrd Skynyrd double shot of "Sweeet Home Alabama" and a jam-happy "Freebird."

Elliott Yamin Reflects On American Idol

Elliott_Yamin_02Even in defeat, Elliott Yamin is a humble guy.  In a recent interview with USA Today, he admitted that he knew he would be the next to leave American Idol and he was flattered that the voting was so close.

Yamin talked about rumors of him being engaged to his girlfriend, Amanda.  He denies that they're engaged but is looking forward to spending time with her again.

The best part of the interview had to be his comments about the American Idol top two, Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee.

"Taylor's a really high strung dude. He's got a lot of energy and passion. He doesn't seem too relaxed when he performs. He's a great entertainer and he's doing what he's done his whole life."
And, he says, "I'm really close with Taylor. That's my dawg, man. We're going to be friends for life."
And later, he said, "Taylor, that's my home boy, man. We've gotten quite close and we've built a relationship that's going to last forever. We've got a great fraternity here of guys and girls and we're all going to be bonded that way for the rest of our lives. Taylor's one of the funniest people I've ever met on this entire planet. He definitely knows how to keep things fun."
On Kat McPhee: "She's definitely very mechanical, you know what I mean? And that's a good thing. I've taken something way from that, too. She has a godly gift and she's got a beautiful voice and she's going to go so far. She already has. All of us are going to be successful and it's going to be awesome to watch us all grow."

I'm not sure if those comments were exactly flattering but they're definitely honest.  He ended the article by saying that he had been indirectly approached about possible singing opportunities but he's not talking much about those yet.

American Idol Rumor - Katherine McPhee Has Duet With Meatloaf?

Katherine_McPhee_02According to Us Weekly, Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks will sing duets on the season finale.  Katherine is set to do a duet with Meatloaf but no word yet on who will sing with Taylor.

From Us Weekly:Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks will sing duets as part of the season finale of American Idol on May 24. McPhee is being paired up with the singer Meatloaf. He will reportedly release a new Bat Out of Hell cd by the end of the year, and is considering asking McPhee to sing on it.

America Says Goodbye to Elliott Yamin

Elliott_Yamin_03Last night came the decision that we all were expecting, that American Idol would not have Elliott Yamin in its top 2. Elliott was clearly the heart of this season. There's just nothing that you can say bad about this guy. He's probably the nicest guy ever on American Idol and I hope he has great success in music.

You could definitely see how much he was loved by the reaction from the Katherine McPhee, Taylor Hicks and the American Idol judges. They had so much love for Elliott and you know that they couldn't fake that much affection.

Good luck Elliott, we'll see you on the American Idol tour and hopefully someday on your own tour!

American Idol Predictions - Who's Going Home Tonight? 05/17/06

Elliott_Yamin_02Elliott Yamin has definitely proven that he deserves to be up on stage in the American Idol finals but will he make it to the final 2?  Most of the people on the internet are predicting this is his last night.  I hate to say it but I agree.  We can only hope that he'll get some of the votes that went to Chris Daughtry.

Elliott just seems like such a good person with a great heart.  I think of anyone in this season's competition, Elliott has really shown the most personality and growth.  If he goes home tonight, that'll definitely be sad but if by some chance he makes it to the final 2, I'm going to be voting for him to win.  Good luck Elliott!

Simon Cowell Picks Taylor Hicks To Win American Idol

Simon_Cowell_01In recent interviews, American Idol judge has weighed in with the opinion that Taylor Hicks is the top contestant and will probably win.  He also thinks that Elliott Yamin is one of the nicest contestants to ever be on American Idol and praised his voice highly.

Simon is predicting that the top two will be Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee.

Quote of the Day - Simon Cowell vs Ryan Seacrest

Simon_Cowell_02On Monday, American Idol judge, Simon Cowell was on the Tonight Show.

Jay LenoNow Ace, he was here.  Playgirl offered him like $100,000 to pose nude...

Simon CowellRyan offered him $200,000 (laughs)

Simon went on to say that there was nothing in the contract to prevent contestants from posing nude but that most were too ugly anyway.  He said that no one would pay to see the kid with glasses (Kevin Covais) in Playgirl.

Will There Be An American Idol All-Star Show?

When so many other reality shows doing all-star shows like Survivor just did, how would an American Idol all-star show do?  I've heard people argue that the first season had the best talent but I think that this season has been great.  An all-star show would settle that argument once and for all!  Of course we couldn't expect the winners or some of the more successful contestants to return but there are plenty of others who would be more than willing to do what they needed to in order to get another 15 minutes of fame.

There have been rumors floating around on the internet and I think that they should do it!  It couldn't lose!  This along with syndicated reruns of the earlier seasons would insure that American Idol will be remembered for decades!

Chris Daughtry To Appear On Ellen This Tuesday

Chris_Daughtry_01American Idol finalist, Chris Daughtry is going to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show tomorrow. It looks like he'll perform and even get a bit of an interview.

I wonder what song he'll perform?  Today, he performed a Bon Jovi song, "Wanted Dead or Alive" on Live with Regis & Kelly.  It was pretty cool since he played it alone on solo guitar.  It sure beats when past idols have appeared on the show singing to a solo piano!

This Week's American Idol - 05/14/06

American_Idol_Final_3What a week last week was.. .  There have been a lot of rumors about Chris Daughtry leaving the show including people blaming the phone numbers and even blaming Ryan Seacrest but none of them are true.  People just didn't vote for him.

This week should be a great music week since the final three, Elliott Yamin, Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee (in no particular order) will get to sing a song of their choice, one picked by the judges and one picked by Clive Davis.  This should be an especially challenging week for them but I have no doubt that all three will shine.

Paula Abdul Wants Elliott Yamin To Win American Idol

Paula_Abdul_Crying_0102In a recent interview with Teen People, Paula admitted that she wants Elliott to win. And in typical Paula fashion, she takes credit for his success. "I feel like I changed the face of the competition by making America wake up and see the talent that Elliott possesses," said Abdul. Wow. America was blind to Elliott's talent until Paula woke us up. Thanks Paula.

She also admitted to being surprised that Chris Daughtry was voted off but she thinks that he has a bright future. She made sure to say a few token nice words about the other contestants. I'd like to hear what they have to say about her thinking Elliott is better than them. Nothing like an impartial judge.

Rumor - American Idol Finalist Chris Daughtry Offered Job As Lead Singer For Fuel

Chris_Daughtry_01I think American Idol finalist, Chris Daughtry has proven that he has the most chance at commercial success out of any contestant in the past few seasons. When I heard him sing, I was so happy to have someone to represent rock this season. He was modest and just had a great attitude that you couldn't help but want him to succeed.

It's clear that Chris Daughtry will have a great career in music but what will he do? I think he should be a solo artist but there have been a lot of rumors that he's been offered the job as the lead singer for the band Fuel.

From MSN News: The buzz around Daughtry for weeks has been that he could end up as lead singer with the band Fuel. He performed the band's song "Hemorrhage" on a recent "Idol" show, and the Web site for the TV show "Extra" said its show Thursday night will have a famous band offering Daughtry a job.

The best thing Chris can do is to hook up with a great rock producer and do a solo CD. If he were to join Fuel or any other band, he steps into someone else's shoes and will be compared to the original. He already has to shake off the American Idol stigma that will follow him for the rest of his life, he doesn't need to be compared to another singer on top of that. I'm looking forward to Chris' CD more than I've ever looked forward to a CD from an American Idol performer. I'd wish Chris Daughtry luck but he clearly doesn't need it!

Last Night's American Idol Results Show - Spoiler Alert!

If you haven't watched last night's show, stop reading right now!

Chris_Daughtry_02This was the biggest surprise on American Idol since Tamyra Gray was voted off in season one. Everyone was surprised and disappointed that Chris Daughtry was sent home last night. Simon looked disappointed, Paula cried (no surprise) and Katherine was obviously surprised because everyone including her thought it was going to be her last night.

So what happened? Did everyone listen to the hype that Chris Daughtry was the American Idol frontrunner, so all the Chris fans didn't feel like they had to vote? It must be. Everyone including myself and the Vegas oddsmakers had Chris as a lock for the winner but it wasn't to be. The "Who will win American Idol?" poll on my web site had Chris with twice as many votes as second place Katherine McPhee.

So the question is, "is it better for Chris Daughtry's career if he doesn't win American Idol?". For a rock singer, I think the stigma of becoming the AI winner could harm you since most rockers don't want to even admit they watch the show much less buy a CD from the winner. One thing's for sure, there will be a bidding war for Chris Daughtry that will eclipse the eventual winner of the show. The long-range promise of Daughtry far outweighs the other competitors and I'm sure he'll do fine but the show will be a bit dull without him. I wonder if ratings will suffer?

American Idol Predictions - Who's Going Home Tonight? 05/10/06

Elliot_Yamin_0102Elliot Yamin gave a great performance on last night's American Idol and I agree with Simon when he said that Elliot deserved to stay for another week. Will he stay? Probably not. The way the voting has been going, he's been getting the fewest votes every week so he'll most likely be the one going home tonight.

Katherine McPhee had a bad night and she might join him in the bottom two. I suppose there's a slight chance she might get the fewest votes but I wouldn't count on it.

I think last night's show was my least favorite. Not that I'm not an Elvis fan, it's just that I'm interested in the American Idol contestants doing something original instead of promoting Elvis' music. I really think the last test the AI contestants should be given is to write an original song. Otherwise this just becomes the world's biggest karaoke competition.

Tim McGraw Picks Taylor Hicks to Win American Idol

Tim_McGrawCountry singer, Tim McGraw has become a fan of American Idol and his favorite singer this year is Taylor Hicks. I think the coolest thing McGraw said is that if he had tried out for American Idol, he wouldn't have gotten through the audition phase. I disagree with that because Tim McGraw has a sincere way about him that I'm sure would've won over the judges.

From TMZ:Asked during a recent interview if he watched the popular Fox talent competition, McGraw said, "I do. The kids love it." McGraw and his wife, fellow Grammy winner Faith Hill, have three daughters.
"I would have never gotten past the audition stage," the 39-year-old country star said, referring to the elimination rounds during the talent search for the show.
He has a favorite this season, too. "I like the gray-haired guy. Taylor Hicks. I think he's real," McGraw said.

American Idol Champ, Carrie Underwood Graduates

Carrie_UnderwoodLast year's American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood set a great example for today's youth by going back and finishing her college degree. She definitely didn't need to finish her degree but according to People, she vowed to go back and finish and she did by graduating magna cum laude.  This is the kind of thing that I think shows true class and a great heart .  I think being an American Idol is more than just being able to sing, it's also about setting an good example for young people.  Congratulations, Carrie!

Kellie Pickler Reunited With Father

Kellie_PicklerKellie Pickler's father was recently released from prison and now they've been reunited. Her dad is a guy who she hasn't seen in years and now he wants to have a relationship with her. Convenient that she's famous now and has money. This is where I have to restate that I hope Kellie has some people to help her with her finances. She's too young and too naive to handle her own career so let's hope that American Idol will hook her up with a manager she can trust so that no one can get to her money but her.

This Week's American Idol - 05/08/06

American_Idol_Final_FourWell, this week it's down to just four contestants on American Idol and in standard American Idol "missing the mark" fashion, they're doing the songs of Elvis.  What kid under 16 knows Elvis or buys Elvis CDs?  If you're going to be musically antiquated, why not some other artists like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The Beach Boys?  Sigh...  It's not like any of these four are going to win American Idol and go on to release a cover CD of Elvis, Kenny Rogers, Barry Manilow and Rod Stewart songs.  Why not have them perform current music? Anyway, the good news is that legendary producer Tommy Mottola will be critiquing their performances.  He's no joke and he'll be brutally honest.

American Idol Winner, Fantasia Barrino To Play Herself In A Lifetime Movie

Fantasia_Barrino_01In an acting stretch, Fantasia Barrino will play herself in an upcoming Lifetime movie about Barrino.  I haven't even heard one song from Fantasia's solo CD.  Is anyone out there a fan?

From AOL Television:"American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino will play herself in a Lifetime movie that will show how the teenage single mother overcame poverty, sexual abuse and illiteracy to win the hit talent show.
The movie, tentatively titled "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale: The Fantasia Barrino Story," will premiere in August on the women's cable channel. Debbie Allen will direct from an adaptation of Barrino's autobiography, "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale."

Chris Daughtry's Band - Absent Element

Chris_Daughtry_01Reader, Izabella let me know about American Idol contestant, Chris Daughtry's former band Absent Element and their web site.  Unfortunately, due to Chris' American Idol participation, they can't put up any old show pictures of him.  The good news is that you can hear some tracks of Daughtry singing with the band.  Chris sounds good in the tracks and you can definitely hear the talent that got him into the finals of American Idol.

American Idol Says Goodbye To Paris Bennett

Paris_Bennett_02

This was one American Idol elimination show that didn't surprise anyone, including Paris Bennett. Paris has been getting the least votes and everyone knew it. You could tell that she wasn't surprised when the news was delivered. You have to give this 17 year old girl for being so composed and professional.

There have been rumors about her being contacted by Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles. Paris has a great voice and she has a great chance of having a lasting career in music. Good luck, Paris!

American Idol Predictions - Who's Going Home Tonight? 05/03/06

Paris_Bennett_0102As sweet and adorable as little Paris Bennett seems, she's consistently the lowest vote getter. It could be her or Elliott this time but I was really disappointed in Taylor yesterday but he'll be safe.

I think the final two contestants left on American Idol will be Chris Daughtry and Katherine McPhee . Katherine is working really hard every week to close the gap! I think if she could show a bit more personality, she could have a great chance of winning!
