American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 07/16/07
This Week's American Idol News - 05/15/07This week the final three American Idol contestants, Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks will perform 3 songs each! No word on what styles they'll be singing. Tomorrow's show will feature performances by Elliott Yamin and Maroon 5. Click on the article title to comment. Here's some random American Idol News
American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 05/09/07
See ya, LaKisha. WagerWeb.com Predicts Jordin Sparks Will Win American Idol
From WagerWeb: Blake Lewis, the 25-year-old from Bothell, Washington, blasted out a surprisingly good rendition of the Bon Jovi standard "You Give Love a Bad Name". As the last man standing (literally) in this competition, Lewis could ride a vote all the way to the final two, or end up getting squashed next week if he delivers a lackluster performance. Lewis is a tough call at +400. Video: American Idol's Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey Performance and Interview

American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 05/02/07It was a surprising night because it showed that none of the singers could do a convincing rock vocal. The only way they could tackle the songs last night was for each to change the song to their style. While this doesn't exactly show much versatility, certain singers like Blake Lewis took chances and really stood out Now, who is going home? I predict LaKisha Jones. Her and Chris Richardson will definitely be in the bottom two but combined with last week's bottom two of Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey, I'm not sure how the votes will fall. We'll see. I predict LaKisha, Phil and Chris to be in danger of going home with the probability going toward LaKisha. This week's American Idol news:
American Idol - Who's Going Home Tonight 04/25/07I think that LaKisha has looked exhausted the last two shows and I believe her votes have really gone down. I think she might be the one going home tonight but it also might be Chris Richardson. Tonight on American Idol...Well, if you believe TMZ.com, Elvis will make a return from the dead to do a duet with Celine Dion . Whoopeee. The good news is that American Idol uses its power for good with a two part "Idol Gives Back" Theme. Here's some short rumors from the past week:
Click here to see what the contestants are singing tonight (spoiler alert) Video: Sanjaya Malakar on the Tonight Show
Video: Sanjaya Malakar's First Post-American Idol Interview
In this interview, Sanjaya talks about his aspirations as a hairdresser, model, singer and Broadway star. Before you're too rough on this kid's delusions, just remember that he's only 17 and remember how dopey you were at that age (assuming you're older). Dial Idol Predicts Sanjaya Will Go Home Tonight!
According to DialIdol.com, Sanjaya got the lowest amount of votes last night. If they're correct, and they claim to have an 87% accuracy rate for last season, he could be gone tonight! |

Do you remember Paris Bennett from last season's American Idol? Well if you
do, you might be amused to hear that she's backing Sanjaya and she actually voted for him!
"We want to see him [Sanjaya] win because it'll kind of prove that 'American Idol' is kind of losing its taste," says Bennett, "it kinda isn't going for talent anymore and more for popularity."
In a recent interview at TMZ, she claimed that she enjoys that so many people like Vote for the Worst are making fun of American Idol because they're not picking the best singers. Strange that she just noticed this. After the first season, the show has just been a big popularity contest and fallen into the routine "reality TV" formula. In the interview she sounded a little bitter and also didn't really appreciate the publicity the show gave her.
I hate when the ex-Idol contestants get so full of themselves and act as if they would've become famous without the show. If it weren't for American Idol, I doubt any of these contestants would've made it. Geez, it's ok to not like the experience but they should give credit where credit is due!

I'm predicting that Sanjaya
might actually land in the bottom 3 tonight. Why? Because his look last night was a little
more mature with the facial hair and toned down attitude. I think it was the wild hair and the
youthfulness that got him the votes from all of the young kids. Sure, all of the Vote For The Worst
and Howard Stern fans will flood the lines but I think it's the young girl vote that keeps him on top.
Of course, not being a young girl myself, I could be totally wrong. We'll see. Here's a list of some of this year's contestant's web sites. Most are run by the actual person but a few are run by a friend of theirs or was set up by American Idol. If you know of any that I missed, e-mail me or leave a comment.
Updated 04/09/07
If you're the type to believe that Simon Cowell has power to send contestants
home by what he says, Phil Stacey Gina Glocksen will be going home tonight. Phil was definitely the most criticized singer of last
night and he's been in the bottom three several times.
Sanjaya seems to be completely bulletproof when it comes to the judges' comments. Even when they've criticized him, people feel sorry for him and vote more. Couple this with VoteForTheWorst .com and Howard Stern'sfans voting for Sanjaya, he should be safe for quite a while.
The only thing that oculd derail Sanjaya Malakar's Idol reign is that he's starting to get a little cocky. Too cocky and the fickle crowd will turn on him. Tune in tonight to see who really goes home.
Wow, American Idol really has its finger on the pulse of today's
young American. They're going to have the AI kids sing Tony Bennett songs. The 80 year old Bennett is as
relevant to today's music as... well, Tony Bennett. Don't get me wrong, Tony is an awesome performer and a
legend but none of these kids are going to release a big band, oldies, jazz or standardards CD. At least not for 30 or so years.
American Idol really has to embrace the current trends and not rely so much on a back catalog of music that they have an interest in financially. Maybe if the show were more exciting and current, we wouldn't have to sabotage the show with people like Sanjaya.
In the meantime, if you want to hear the old school standards done right, stick with Tony Bennett's older material.

Also, at the end of the last show, he threw down his microphone. Why? On Ryan Seacrest's radio show he claimed it was a joke that they all thought the funny way to go out would be to spike the mic and let it feed back as you walk off. Unfortunately, most weren't in on this "joke" and thought it was a sign of disrespect.
After Idol, Chris will go home and spend time with his wife until he returns for the finale and the tour. If you're interested in hearing more from this talented singer, check out his band, Half Past Forever.

I'm almost at a
loss of words about Sanjaya Malakar's hair on tonight's American Idol. Clearly he's given up on
working on his singing and now just focuses on his image. Even Simon refused to comment on his performance.
Will Sanjaya
survive another week? I'm not sure but VoteForTheWor st.com and Howard Stern will be pushing
for us to vote for the vocally challenged youth so we can enjoy his shenanigans for another week.
What more could he possibly do with his hair? Hopefully for his last week, he'll go all out and shave his head.
Singer Gwen Stefani is set to appear
on American Idol tonight. She'll probably do the usual coaching of the top 10 contestants but I don't really
think she's the best person to be a singing coach for any of them. However, she has great stage presence but I'm not
sure if that's something that can exactly be taught.|

According to Bodog.com, the bottom 2 for American Idol are Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato. The favorites to win are Melinda Dolittle , Jordin Sparks and Lakisha Jones. Of course we all know that this could change with next week's performance show. Also, don't count out the crazy support for Sanjaya Malakar to win.
Eat your heart out David Hasslehoff, American Idol has a new
crybaby to talk about. If you watched this week's American Idol, you saw this young 13 year
-old cry her eyes out when her favorite singer, Sanjaya Malakar took the stage but did you know
that her crying on camera was planned by the show?
Sitting in the audience during rehearsals, she was spotted crying by a sharp-eyed American Idol producer and invited back with a seat in the front and directions for cameras to go to her when Sanjaya sang. This turned her into the talk of the show and part of a barb directed at Sanjaya by Simon Cowell.
I sometimes wonder if this was a good thing for this girl.
Won't she be embarrassed that so many people in the media are making fun of her? Won't this come back to haunt
her in later years?
For now, the 13-year-old Ashley Ferl is enjoying appearing on a few radio and TV shows and she's become the star of her Riverside, CA neighborhood. I'm sure that the American Idol producers will bring her back. If not next week, she'll be there for the finale. Why not put her next to David Hasslehoff and right behind Paula. I'm sure her family is shopping around for an agent for Ashley.

Tune in tonight to see if he's still there.

Quite simple: for the guys, Sanjaya will go home. He's a nice kid but a disappoinment as far as his singing. Also Phil Stacey will go home. Not for lack of talent, he just doesn't stand out like the rest of the guys.
For the women, we'll finally see Antonella Barba go home. Pictures or no pictures, she would go home since her voice just can't compare with the rest. And it's a tossup whether Haley Scarnato or Gina Glocksen will go. Why? Because I had to look up their names. Nice girls with talent but on American Idol, you have to really make people remember you.

There are a lot of rumors
going on about American Idol considering replacing Paula Abdul with Courtney Love. Will it
happen? Absolutely not. Despite Paula's bizarre
behavior, she brings a lot of publicity to the show. If Idol were ashamed of
Paula, they'd replace her with a more normal host not someone with a history of drug use and general mayhem like Courtney Love.
Don't get me wrong, I've known about Love a long time before she was famous and she would be awesome on the show. Sure, she's a wild card but she has an energy and honesty that would be fun to watch.

True to form,
Taylor Hicks' first words after being named 2006's American Idol were, "soul patrol, soul
patrol". Perhaps not the most humble or thankful acceptance speech but why change now?
It looks like the soul patrol really came through for Taylor Hicks. This came as a surprise to no one since Simon pretty much named him the American Idol on Tuesday's show.
It's really hard to predict what Taylor's original music will sound like since AI will control his CD completely. It'll take until he goes to another label before he'll enjoy the creative freedom to take the helm of his own career.
I give a lot of credit to American Idol for putting on the best American Idol finale ever! The last two years, I thought were dull. Last night's finale was absolutely killer, especially with the appearance by Prince. I predicted an appearance a long time ago but I didn't expect it in the finale.
Some interesting American Idol Finale facts:
Don't forget to tune into the
American Idol 2006 finale tonight! Remember that it's 2 hours long and starts at
8:00pm! They're planning a bunch of guests and surprises so it'll definitely be worth watching.
OK, so you know who's probably going to win. Simon pretty much gave the win to Taylor last night and also brought up that Taylor Hicks got the royal treatment in his hometown while Katherine got a reception in a high school gym. But as we've learned from Chris Daughtry, anything can happen.
In a funny note, someone reported on the news that former American Idol contestant Corey Clark was spotted outside selling his CD in front of a local Coffee Bean. If you don't remember, he was the one who claimed to have an affair with Paula Abdul.
Last night was
full of good performances. I thought Katherine McPhee did a great job with all of her songs but for some
reason the judges have been hard on her the whole season. I don't think she lived up to her potential
and I think she can get better. Taylor Hicks on the other hand has been the darling of this year's
American Idol competition. He was definitely going for it on every performance.
Update: I forgot to add that I thought Daniel Powter did a killer version of his song "Bad Day". As much
as I grew to hate that song because they were overplaying it, I enjoyed watching him play and sing and show an
example of star quality without mugging for the camera. Click on the iTunes link to check out his single Bad Day.
Just in time for the American Idol, Season 5
finale comes a CD of the top 12 contestants. Nothing to really get too excited about here, just cover versions of the
songs that they performed on the show. I'd rather hear the live versions direct from the show. One
thing that the TV show Rock Star: INXS did well was offer iTunes downloads of the contestant's live
performances the day after the show.
Here's the track listings for the American Idol Season 5 Encores CD:
1. What About Love - Melissa McGhee
2. Superstition - Bucky Covington
3. Every Woman - Mandisa
4. Wanted Dead Or Alive - Chris Daughtry
5. Father Figure - Ace Young
6. Takin†It To The Street - Taylor Hicks
7. Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Lisa Tucker
8. Walkin†After Midnight - Kellie Pickler
9. Moodyâ€s Mood For Love - Elliott Yamin
10. Think - Katharine McPhee
11. Midnight Train To Georgia - Paris Bennett
12. When I Fall In Love - Kevin Covais

American Idol has been working on keeping their
final two shows a secret. There have been rumors of Katherine McPhee performing a duet
with Meatloaf but that let's hope that there are better surprises than that in store for us.
I did my best to get my inside contact to leak some information but he (or she) said that they weren't allowed to leak anything specific for the finale. I guess we'll just have to tune in tonight to see.
Do you remember Brenna Gethers? She was the spunky American Idol
contestant who went out of her way to put on a show for the AI fans. She was voted off early but she was
probably one of the most memorable contestants American Idol has ever had. Brenna knew about
reality TV and played up her personality for all that was worth. Unfortunately, that might have turned
off some viewers who wanted more singing and less attitude.
In a recent interview with Vote For The Worst, she claims American Idol held her back because she's eclipse the other contestants and that the contract she signed has prevented her taking advantage of some possible job opportunities. She also discussed her feud with Paris Bennett.
According to US Weekly, Teri Hatcher and American Idol's Ryan Seacrest are still at odds after he
supposedly dumped her on the phone on March 25. They're reporting that they haven't talked since and there might be
some weirdness between them when Teri will attend the American Idol finals this week.
Don't worry Teri, I don't think Ryan will stop and interview you although it would rock if they placed her on the aisle or behind Simon because you know Simon would have fun bringing her in just to torture Seacrest.

At a recent concert for radio station Kiss 108
in Boston, three former American Idol contestants performed. Bo Bice, Mario Vazquez and Ayla Brown (pictured here)
rocked the first half of the concert with Bice playing some songs from his new CD. I hope Ayla Brown can work
out something with her career because I liked her. She had a sweet personality and a lot of potential.

Even in defeat, Elliott Yamin is a humble guy. In
a recent interview with USA Today, he admitted that he knew he would be the next to leave American Idol and he was flattered
that the voting was so close.
Yamin talked about rumors of him being engaged to his girlfriend, Amanda. He denies that they're engaged but is looking forward to spending time with her again.
The best part of the interview had to be his comments about the American Idol top two, Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee.
"Taylor's a really high strung dude. He's got a lot of energy and passion. He doesn't seem too relaxed when he performs. He's a great entertainer and he's doing what he's done his whole life."
And, he says, "I'm really close with Taylor. That's my dawg, man. We're going to be friends for life."
And later, he said, "Taylor, that's my home boy, man. We've gotten quite close and we've built a relationship that's going to last forever. We've got a great fraternity here of guys and girls and we're all going to be bonded that way for the rest of our lives. Taylor's one of the funniest people I've ever met on this entire planet. He definitely knows how to keep things fun."
On Kat McPhee: "She's definitely very mechanical, you know what I mean? And that's a good thing. I've taken something way from that, too. She has a godly gift and she's got a beautiful voice and she's going to go so far. She already has. All of us are going to be successful and it's going to be awesome to watch us all grow."
I'm not sure if those comments were exactly flattering but they're definitely honest. He ended the article by saying that he had been indirectly approached about possible singing opportunities but he's not talking much about those yet.

According to Us Weekly, Katherine McPhee and
Taylor Hicks will sing duets on the season finale. Katherine is set to do a duet with Meatloaf
but no word yet on who will sing with Taylor.
From Us Weekly:Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks will sing duets as part of the season finale of American Idol on May 24. McPhee is being paired up with the singer Meatloaf. He will reportedly release a new Bat Out of Hell cd by the end of the year, and is considering asking McPhee to sing on it.

Last night came
the decision that we all were expecting, that American Idol would not have Elliott Yamin in its top 2. Elliott was
clearly the heart of this season. There's just nothing that you can say bad about this guy. He's
probably the nicest guy ever on American Idol and I hope he has great success in music.
Elliott Yamin has definitely
proven that he deserves to be up on stage in the American Idol finals but will he make it to the final
2? Most of the people on the internet are predicting this is his last night. I hate to say it but I agree. We
can only hope that he'll get some of the votes that went to Chris Daughtry.Elliott just seems like such a good person with a great heart. I think of anyone in this season's competition, Elliott has really shown the most personality and growth. If he goes home tonight, that'll definitely be sad but if by some chance he makes it to the final 2, I'm going to be voting for him to win. Good luck Elliott!
In recent interviews, American Idol judge has
weighed in with the opinion that Taylor Hicks is the top contestant and will probably win. He also thinks
that Elliott Yamin is one of the nicest contestants to ever be on American Idol and praised his voice highly.
Simon is predicting that the top two will be Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee.
On Monday, American Idol judge, Simon Cowell was on
the Tonight Show.
Jay LenoNow Ace, he was here. Playgirl offered him like $100,000 to pose nude...
Simon CowellRyan offered him $200,000 (laughs)
Simon went on to say that there was nothing in the contract to prevent contestants from posing nude but that most were too ugly anyway. He said that no one would pay to see the kid with glasses (Kevin Covais) in Playgirl.
When so many other reality shows doing all-star shows like Survivor just did, how would an American Idol all-star show do? I've heard people argue that the first season had the best talent but I think that this season has been great. An all-star show would settle that argument once and for all! Of course we couldn't expect the winners or some of the more successful contestants to return but there are plenty of others who would be more than willing to do what they needed to in order to get another 15 minutes of fame.
There have been rumors floating around on the internet and I think that they should do it! It couldn't lose! This along with syndicated reruns of the earlier seasons would insure that American Idol will be remembered for decades!
American Idol
finalist, Chris Daughtry is going to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show tomorrow. It looks like he'll perform
and even get a bit of an interview.I wonder what song he'll perform? Today, he performed a Bon Jovi song, "Wanted Dead or Alive" on Live with Regis & Kelly. It was pretty cool since he played it alone on solo guitar. It sure beats when past idols have appeared on the show singing to a solo piano!
Click here to visit Ellen Degeneres' official web site
What a week last week was... There have
been a lot of rumors about Chris Daughtry leaving the show including people blaming the phone numbers
and even blaming Ryan Seacrest but none of them are true. People just didn't vote for him.
This week should be a great music week since the final three, Elliott Yamin, Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee (in no particular order) will get to sing a song of their choice, one picked by the judges and one picked by Clive Davis. This should be an especially challenging week for them but I have no doubt that all three will shine.
In a recent interview with Teen People,
Paula admitted that she wants Elliott to win. And in typical Paula fashion, she takes credit for his success. "I feel like I
changed the face of the competition by making America wake up and see the talent that Elliott
possesses," said Abdul. Wow. America was blind to Elliott's talent until Paula woke us up. Thanks Paula.
She also admitted to being surprised that Chris Daughtry was voted off but she thinks that he has a bright future. She made sure to say a few token nice words about the other contestants. I'd like to hear what they have to say about her thinking Elliott is better than them. Nothing like an impartial judge.
Click here to read the whole interview at Teen People
I think American Idol
finalist, Chris Daughtry has proven that he has the most chance at commercial success out of
any contestant in the past few seasons. When I heard him sing, I was so happy to have someone
to represent rock this season. He was modest and just had a great attitude that you couldn't help but want him to succeed.
It's clear that Chris Daughtry will have a great career in music but what will he do? I think he should be a solo artist but there have been a lot of rumors that he's been offered the job as the lead singer for the band Fuel.
From MSN News: The buzz around Daughtry for weeks has been that he could end up as lead singer with the band Fuel. He performed the band's song "Hemorrhage" on a recent "Idol" show, and the Web site for the TV show "Extra" said its show Thursday night will have a famous band offering Daughtry a job.
The best thing Chris can do is to hook up with a great rock producer and do a solo CD. If he were to join Fuel or any other band, he steps into someone else's shoes and will be compared to the original. He already has to shake off the American Idol stigma that will follow him for the rest of his life, he doesn't need to be compared to another singer on top of that. I'm looking forward to Chris' CD more than I've ever looked forward to a CD from an American Idol performer. I'd wish Chris Daughtry luck but he clearly doesn't need it!
This was the
biggest surprise on American Idol since Tamyra Gray was voted off in season one. Everyone was
surprised and disappointed that Chris Daughtry was sent home last night. Simon looked
disappointed, Paula cried (no surprise) and Katherine was obviously surprised because
everyone including her thought it was going to be her last night.
Elliot Yamin gave a great
performance on last night's American Idol and I agree with Simon when he said that Elliot deserved to stay
for another week. Will he stay? Probably not. The way the voting has been going, he's been getting the
fewest votes every week so he'll most likely be the one going home tonight.Katherine McPhee had a bad night and she might join him in the bottom two. I suppose there's a slight chance she might get the fewest votes but I wouldn't count on it.
I think last night's show was my least favorite. Not that I'm not an Elvis fan, it's just that I'm interested in the American Idol contestants doing something original instead of promoting Elvis' music. I really think the last test the AI contestants should be given is to write an original song. Otherwise this just becomes the world's biggest karaoke competition.
Country singer, Tim McGraw has become a fan of
American Idol and his favorite singer this year is Taylor Hicks. I think the coolest thing McGraw said is that if he
had tried out for American Idol, he wouldn't have gotten through the audition phase. I disagree with that because Tim
McGraw has a sincere way about him that I'm sure would've won over the judges. From TMZ:Asked during a recent interview if he watched the popular Fox talent competition,
McGraw said, "I do. The kids love it." McGraw and his wife, fellow Grammy winner Faith Hill, have three daughters.
"I would have never gotten past the audition stage," the 39-year-old country star said,
referring to the elimination rounds during the talent search for the show.
He has a favorite this season, too. "I like the
gray-haired guy. Taylor Hicks. I think he's real," McGraw said.

Last year's American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood set
a great example for today's youth by going back and finishing her college degree. She definitely didn't
need to finish her degree but according to People, she vowed to go back and finish and she did by
graduating magna cum laude. This is the kind of thing that I think shows true class and a great heart
. I think being an American Idol is more than just being able to sing, it's also about setting an good
example for young people. Congratulations, Carrie!

Kellie Pickler's father was recently released from prison and now
they've been reunited. Her dad is a guy who she hasn't seen in years and now he wants to
have a relationship with her. Convenient that she's famous now and has money. This is where I have
to restate that I hope Kellie has some people to help her with her finances. She's too young and too
naive to handle her own career so let's hope that American Idol will hook her up with a manager she
can trust so that no one can get to her money but her.

Well, this week it's down to just four contestants on American
Idol and in standard American Idol "missing the mark" fashion, they're doing the songs
of Elvis. What kid under 16 knows Elvis or buys Elvis CDs? If you're going to be musically
antiquated, why not some other artists like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The Beach Boys? Sigh...
It's not like any of these four are going to win American Idol and go on to release a cover CD of
Elvis, Kenny Rogers, Barry Manilow and Rod Stewart songs. Why not have them perform
current music? Anyway, the good news is that legendary producer Tommy Mottola will be
critiquing their performances. He's no joke and he'll be brutally honest.
In an acting stretch, Fantasia Barrino will
play herself in an upcoming Lifetime movie about Barrino. I haven't even heard one song from Fantasia's
solo CD. Is anyone out there a fan?
From AOL Television:"American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino will play herself in a Lifetime movie
that will show how the teenage single mother overcame poverty, sexual abuse and illiteracy to win the hit talent show.
The movie, tentatively titled "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale: The Fantasia Barrino Story," will
premiere in August on the women's cable channel. Debbie Allen will direct from an
adaptation of Barrino's autobiography, "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale."
Chris Daughtry's Band - Absent Element
Reader, Izabella let me know about American Idol
contestant, Chris Daughtry's former band Absent Element and their web site. Unfortunately, due to
Chris' American Idol participation, they can't put up any old show pictures of him. The good news
is that you can hear some tracks of Daughtry singing with the band. Chris sounds good in the
tracks and you can definitely hear the talent that got him into the finals of American Idol.

American Idol Says Goodbye To Paris Bennett

This was one American Idol elimination show that didn't surprise anyone, including Paris Bennett. Paris has been getting the least votes and everyone knew it. You could tell that she wasn't surprised when the news was delivered. You have to give this 17 year old girl for being so composed and professional.
There have been rumors about her being contacted by Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles. Paris has a great voice and she has a great chance of having a lasting career in music. Good luck, Paris!
American Idol Predictions - Who's Going Home Tonight? 05/03/06
As sweet and adorable as little Paris Bennett seems,
she's consistently the lowest vote getter. It could be her or Elliott this time but I was really
disappointed in Taylor yesterday but he'll be safe.
I think the final two contestants left on American Idol will be Chris Daughtry and Katherine McPhee . Katherine is working really hard every week to close the gap! I think if she could show a bit more personality, she could have a great chance of winning!
