Well here we are at the last performance show of the season and it's a foregone conclusion that Adam Lambert will easily walk away with the title but it ain't
over yet. Tonight each contestant will sing 3 songs.
Adam Lambert opens up with the Michael Andrews version of Tears For Fears' "Mad World". Eh, it was kind of like the first time he did it. OK but nothing new here.
Kris Allen
does Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" and plays it on piano. I give him a lot of credit for changing it and making it one of his own. Like Simon, I give this round to Kris. Paula went crazy with the spray tan tonight!
Adam's next song is the classic "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke. Now this is one of my all time favorite songs and Adam should be able to really do a great job on this
one but I was disappointed. I thought he would do better but he kind of did it predictable just like he does most songs. I don't know if he really did anything new or different with it. I
thought he would've taken advantage of the first line to do something amazing but despite the judges raving over this one, it left me flat. Kris does another one of my all time
favorites with "What's Going On" originally performed by Marvin Gaye. Wow, again Kris is doing an acoustic version and really trying something different. I give this kid a lot
of credit for trying something different. He might not be able to outsing Adam but he's really performing like an artist here. Even though many will no doubt disagree, I give this round
to Kris too even though he could've doing something interesting with the bridge section. Now for the original song co-written by Kara DioGuardi and Adam is up first. These are always
interesting because no one has heard these before so in the past they've been pretty bad. Wow, this is the first time I think I've seen Adam struggling with a song. He usually has
great pitch but he's having some trouble here. Randy is honest and agrees, it's Kara's song so she can't comment on the performance, Paula gives the same comment as always and
Simon says that Adam's a star. Next up is Kris. Now here's where it gets tough. If they do the same song there's now a direct comparison so is there anything Kris can do to
make himself sound as good as Adam who is a technically better singer? Kris is clearly trying hard. He's moving and feeling the song but when he's out of breath on the long passages
you can tell because the words drop off and his pitch suffers. This is clearly a hard song to sing live. When the song is over you can tell that Kris isn't confident. The judges are kind
as if they already know the results. Don't we all? Wait, is Carrie Underwood performing live? This it the first time in a long time that I've seen her do a weak performance. I
guess if it ain't country, it's not going to be good. Try looking up Motley Crue's original version of the song. Final thoughts:
OK, we're all assuming that Adam will win because he's clearly the best male technical singer we've seen on the show. But other than shoehorning in a high note into every song there wasn't a whole lot of artistry and originality. Kris on the other had shaped many of the songs to suit his personality and showed himself to be an artist. Now the big questions are is this a singing competition or an artist competition and also, did you actually like the stuff that Kris did? Clearly there's no one who's going to change their minds on the basis of tonight's performances because I don't think either guy came out and took any chances. So in less than 24 hours we should have a new American Idol. Good luck Kris, be the spoiler, pull the upset!

Tonight's show
started off with an unfunny promo for Night at the Museum 2 and another bad car commercial. Since American Idol chose not to do an Idol Gives Back night, there's some
slight mention and a kid comes out and sings. Danny Gokey is the first to be featured. Shots of him going home and seeing his friend were interesting but
kind of dull. The best part is how much he seems to really appreciate everyone who came out to see him. Danny is clearly a nice guy and as much as I hope he wins...
Kris Allen on his way home got free cheese dip for life from his favorite restaurant in Arkansas. There's a touching moment showing him and his father embracing
and his father is rightfully proud of his boy. Kris is also a nice guy but I don't know if he has a big enough personality to make it as a recording star.
Jordin Sparks comes out and sings a song that reminds me of Beyonce. Adam Lambert comes on stage and gets the best crowd reaction. Not surprising to anyone, there's a
scene where he does the makeup of the local weathergirl. He seems like a nice kid but really hasn't shown a lot of personality. I don't think I've heard him
say 2 sentences in a row. Maybe he played it right by not talking too much. I know I haven't been too kind to Adam but I think he'll make a good American Idol.
Katy Perry comes out dressed like Elvis sporting a cape with Adam Lambert's name on it. Anyone else think she looks like Zooey Deschanel?
And the results: Kris is the first to be announced and Simon looks surprised. Of course Adam is announced as the second finalist. Sorry Danny, I hope you're a
success in the Christian market.

Danny Gokey: Terrence Trent D'arby's Dance Little Sister. Paula chose this one for him and it was alright.
Not a lot of dynamics but he sounded good. The sax player sucked because he didn't play along with Danny's call and response bit. The judges response
was lukewarm and I wonder if it might send him home. Kris Allen: One Republic's Apologize. Randy and Kara picked this one for him and it's kind of a ballad
interpretation with no great drum groove like the original. I didn't think he should play the piano since his time is a bit off. The judges didn't like this one either.
Adam Lambert performs U2's One. Simon claims that U2 gave their approval for him to sing this. The backup singers start way out of tune which does him no favors
but he still does his over the top wailing. I hated it but I'm sure most of America loved it. His thin, reedy high notes sounded extra shrill and were completely
unnecessary on this song but you can't stop him from oversinging. There's no emotion or feel, just high notes. As much as I hated this the judges loved it. Let's just
make him the winner already. Danny Gokey's second song is Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful. Not the greatest pick but he does a
good job. I like Danny but I'm really doubting him having any chance against Adam to win. Kris Allen's second song is Kanye West's Heartless?
Seriously? This is the only time in American Idol history where someone plays the guitar and it's not just a prop. I hate the song but he really did a great job. Kris
looked and sounded confident and if he's going home, he's going home on a high note. Look out Danny, it's going to be a close race for second place! Adam Lambert
finishes the show with Aerosmith's Cryin'. Gee, will he oversing this one? Yup. I know all of you out there are really impressed with this guy but
he's just not a convincing rock singer. I've spent my life around great rock singers and just because someone can hit notes doesn't make them great. Clearly it
doesn't matter what I say because he's going to cruise for an easy win.

Tonight starts out with a guest appearance by Slash as the kids perform Alice Cooper's School's Out. It's not awful but clearly there's
not a real rocker in the bunch. Trying to shoehorn in an R&B vocal fill into this song sounds ridiculous but Adam and Allison look like they're having fun while
Kris and Danny seem clearly out of place. They talk about Danny's bad note and he has a great sense of humor about it. I gotta tell you that this is the
right attitude because I don't know many people who could make a joke about it, especially not me. Did Allison swear because the sound dropped out.
Paula Abdul performs next. Will she really sing or lip-sync? There has never been such an obvious lip-sync performance since The Backstreet Boys and Britney
Spears on the 2003 MTV VMA awards. On a positive note, she looks and moves great for 46. Next up is No Doubt rocking their hit "Just A Girl". The
look and sound great but the vocals are mixed too hot and the band isn't loud enough. Gwen Stefani is a little out of breath but still does a few push ups as a callback
to their video. She proves that you can be active and still sing for real. They're showing how many people turned out for the
past top 3 contestants in their hometown. I wonder how many people Bo Bice or Taylor Hicks could get to show up now?
There's a minor surprise as Kris Allen is the first to go to safety. So it should be either Allison or Danny. Daughtry plays their new song "No Surprise" and he
sounds really good. After he gets presented with a platinum record with 5-million sales. This guy has really proven himself over the last year.
Adam is safe next and the bottom two are Allison and Danny and Danny is safe. For the first time in American Idol history we have an all male top 3. As she sings her
way out she cries a little. Good luck Allison, I hope you can have some sort of career after this is over.

Slash sells out and works with the American Idol kids for rock night. I'm gonna burn my Appetite For Destruction CD. Not really. Adam Lambert
- Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love: Fucking awful. I usually try not to swear but I'm a huge Zep fan and I thought this was so hokey and cheesy.
Not rock but cabaret. I know everyone will disagree with me but no one who owns the Led Zep Complete box set will enjoy this performance. Allison Iraheta
- Janis Joplin's Cry Baby: Wow. How predictable and awful. Looking like a less attractive Joplin clone, Allison butchers this one up. Her hair
looks 2% better but it still looks like she has a huge wig on. The judges liked it a little better than I did meaning she could be in the bottom this week. Allison argues
with Simon a bit and even though it's justified, this never is a good move. Kris Allen and Danny Gokey do a duet of Renegade
by Styx and it's a little shaky. They both look nervous and it doesn't feel authentic. I like these two guys the
best but this isn't good. Danny blows the last line of the song. Too bad. This was the first duet on AI and it was an awesome idea but unfortunately it didn't come off
well. Kris Allen does the Beatles' Come Together: Slash lets him play his Gibson Les Paul in practice and Kris decides to play guitar during his performance. He
sounds soooo much better on this one than the last song. The judges didn't like this one as much as I did. Danny Gokey is going to attempt Aerosmith's Dream
On: This could be awesome or a trainwreck but probably one or the other. Wow, he really doesn't look very "rock", more like disco with the purple shirt and
more necklaces than Paula. The performance is pretty mediocre, he blows the end note and he knows it. Too bad because he's my favorite. Allison Iraheta and
Adam Lambert do Foghat's Slow Ride:Adam sounds better on this one and Allison looks more comfortable. They actually look like they're
having fun as opposed to Kris and Danny's duet. My two least favorite contestants but they did a really good job on this one. Bottom Line:
Well this was an awful night for my two favorites and a good night for the ones I don't like. This will be awesome because anything can happen with the
voting tomorrow night. Did you know that Adam has been selling the most songs on iTunes? This won't necessarily translate into sales of his CD but I'm sure
the individual song sales will affect who the American Idol producers select to win. What, you didn't think that your votes actually determines the winner now do
you? Maybe in the beginning but this all about creating an artist who sells well and if you read the fine print at the end of the show, the executives have ultimate
power to choose the winner and change the vote.

Well another results show, another lip-synced tune and a bad commercial. We can
look forward to two kids going home since the judges used their "save" last week on Matt Giraud. In a surprise move, Adam is in the bottom 3 but
don't worry, the show would never let him go this early. Natalie Cole comes out and sings and clearly she's seen
better days. If only she could sing as good as she's looking. Taylor Hicks is up next to embarrass himself and the people who voted for him. Look, he's
pretending to play guitar. "Whoooo, Soul Patrol!" In a surprise move, Kris is safe and Adam and Matt are in the bottom two. Next up, Jamie Foxx comes on
to use Auto-Tune on a singing show. He doesn't need it but he still sounds better than all the other singers using it now.
So in what comes as a surprise to no one, Matt is going home. He knows he was on longer than he deserved. Overall, this was a show worth skipping completely.

Well tonight's episode starts off being "Rat Pack" week? Seriously? What next, big band and delta blues week
? And who does American Idol think of as the best person to represent the Rat Pack but Jamie Fox. Yeah. Jamie is talented but he looks like the kind of guy who
doesn't want to be on this show.
Kris Allen - The Way You Look Tonight: Jamie likes Kris because he's not trying to oversing the song. I like
Kris a lot but I don't think I'd really consider buying his CD until he does something original. Allison Iraheta - Someone To Watch Over Me: Meh.
Alright but nothing different or original. Randy says she looks like Brittany Murphy. Is that a compliment? Matt Giraud - My Funny Valentine: Matt should do
well with this standard but for some reason it just never feels right. I thought this would be a slamdunk week for
Matt but he didn't look comfortable and he didn't take command of the song. Danny Gokey - Come Rain or Come Shine: I think
Danny should hit this one out of the park and he does. He's the only one who sings with a believable passion. Ladies and Gentleman, the winner of American Idol is..
. Danny Gokey Adam Lambert - Feelin' Good: Think he's going to oversing this one. Yup. The Rat Pack would not
approve of this guy but it won't stop America from voting for him in droves. Adam does the predictable showtune version. Nothing cool about this version, pure
corny but people will eat it up. Final Thoughts: Danny and Adam come out so far ahead of everyone else that they might as well just send
Matt, Allison and probably even Kris home and have the final vote. My vote as of today goes to Danny. Unless he really screws up he should be the winner with
a small possibility of Adam beating him.

I can't believe that the judges wasted their save on Matt Giraud. There's no way that he can win. No way.
Absolutely no way. So next week two contestants will go home. Who? Most likely Matt, Lil and Anoop will
be in the bottom. There's a chance that Lil could really do great next week since it's disco week but we'll have to wait and see.

Allison Iraheta - Aerosmith's Don't Want To Miss A Thing: Wow, am I the only one who thought she
sucked? She started too low, she was out of tune and her stage presence was just awful. It looks like she's
wearing a wig, a costume and still isn't showing any personality. My grade - D. Anoop Desai - Bryan Adams' Everything I Do, I Do
For You: Anoop did possibly one of his best and most convincing performances to date. I don't think he has a
chance to win but he did a good job tonight. My grade - B. Adam Lambert - Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild:
Interesting how in the movie Easy Rider, the guys were wearing leather because they're motorcycle riders.
Adam wears leather in a different way... Anyway, the original is a very masculine song and this was... well, it
just wasn't. It was what I would expect to see in an, off, off, off Broadway show. Corny and awful. He has so
much potential but he uses the high note just as much as a tool as Blake Lewis did the beatbox. You just wait
for him to shoehorn it into every song. Corny. Simon nailed the criticism by saying that it was right out of Rocky Horror. Horror indeed. My grade is a low D
because he could do so much better. Matt Giraud - Bryan Adams' Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman: Matt does a nice job on piano but
he makes some really odd faces when he sings. Wow, a lot of bad notes. He probably shouldn't have played the piano, just got out there and sang. Grade C-
Danny Gokey - Lionel Richie's Endless Love: Can Danny get emotional for this song? A slight stumble
early but he recovers nicely. He's not oversinging this song and he's doing a nice job although no one who
wears this kind of jacket should roll up the sleeves. A slight look to the heavens as I'm sure he dedicates this
one to his late wife. Not the greatest singing performance but his personality and look really makes him the frontrunner in my eyes. Grade - B+ Kris Allen
- Some song from "Once": I used to hate this guy but he's totally winning me over. This is a nice
and vulnerable performance and he went to a place where no other singer in the competition has gone. Very nice. Randy disagrees with me and the show feels
pushed because of time limits. Grade - B Lil Rounds - The Rose: I think this is her last chance
to stay in the competition and she starts a little rough. I think she needed to do the intro a little softer. When the
gospel change comes in, it doesn't come in as strong as I had hoped and her pitch is still off. I really like her but
this could be the end. I really thought she'd do awesome because they usually put the strongest performer in the last spot. Simon hates it and I just wish
that we just had heard her do something current sounding. The fact that she's crying and argues at the
end pretty much seals her fate as going home. Grade - C- Bottom Line: I don't think any of these kids have
much of a chance at a real career. Danny will win, Adam will go to Broadway and the rest will fade to obscurity searching for the "big hit".

Danny Gokey: Mickey Gilley's version of Stand By Me - Wow, when was the last time you heard the name
, Mickey Gilley? Seriously, if you're not from the Midwest or the South you might not have even heard of
him. If you care, watch Urban Cowboy. Back to the show, Danny did a decent version. It's hard to criticize
a guy who's this likeable but this performance wasn't his best. The judges weren't crazy about his performance
but I thought he did fine. We're still waiting for a really great moment in this season and it hasn't happened yet
but if it does, I'm betting on Danny. Kris Allen: Don Henley's All She Wants To Do Is
Dance - Kris is growing on me. This is a much different version than the original and it's ok. I think they
could've done a heavier version but Kris is a pop singer and the horns and funk beat seem to work for him. I
definitely liked this version better than the judges. Lil Rounds: Tina Turner's What's Love Got To Do
With It - It sounds like she's nervous and out of breath. Lil has a good voice but she doesn't have the interesting
texture that Tina has so the song just doesn't seem to work well. Disappointing. Anoop Desai: Cyndi Lauper's True Colors - Boring
and karaoke but the judges liked it, contradicting everything they said before. Scott McIntyre: Survivor's The Search Is Over - Jimi
Jamison has a great voice and Scott just couldn't do this love ballad justice. A weak performance that
sounded shaky at best. It could be time for him to go. At the end Scott claims that he wanted to be versatile
before going home so it sounds like he knows he's next and he may have thrown in the towel. Allison Iraheta:
Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me - I really don't like Allison but I thought this song choice really made sense. She started out good
but she tended to shout the chorus instead of letting us hear the tone and texture in her voice. This could've
been a great performance but... In the end the judges like her voice but encourage her to show more of her
personality. Of course this could really backfire. Matt Giraud: Stevie Wonder's Part-Time Lover -
Meh. Not in tune and pretty karaoke. Nothing spectacular here. The judges liked it but I have a feeling
that they'll change their minds after watching the replay. Adam Lambert: Michael Andrews version of Tears
For Fears' Mad World - Another literal version of a song along with a few high notes crowbarred in. Jeez,
just because you can sing high doesn't mean you should thrown them in EVERY single time. Reminds me of
Sam Harris who would sing a song and throw in a high note in the end just because it's a cheap way to impress
people. I didn't think this was his best performance and his voice cracking in the last note will hopefully make him reconsider his next song.
Bottom Line: Most of the contestants still aren't getting the idea of doing something original. The
majority are doing karaoke versions but when the originals are so much better, why would anyone care? What were the most memorable performances several
years ago? While we forget Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard and even Carrie Underwood's performances
most of us still can remember Blake Lewis' beatbox vs drum song. Anyway, it looks like they're setting Adam up for an easy win.
Look for Lil, Anoop and Scott to be in the bottom three tomorrow.

I'm going to bug my eyes when Ryan reads the results
The only thing worth talking about that happened during tonight's show is how big of a loser Megan Joy
Corkrey was. Sure she knew she was going home but her behavior was bizarre and just plain embarrassing.
The eye bugging, disrespect to the judges, the flapping arms going "caw, caw" and in the end crying were the
lowest moments ever on American Idol. From the first moment I saw Megan I was a fan. Her voice and look were both unusual and original. Every
time she stumbled I still believed in her but unfortunately, she never got better. She didn't take criticism well and
in the end she just crashed and burned in the worst way possible. In what might be the dumbest moment is that
she said she didn't care what Simon thought before the final song. This just sent the message to all the judges
that she had given up and didn't deserve to be saved with their final vote. Even the fans turned on her
because very few people made any noise when it was announced she was the lowest scoring contestant.
What she needed to do was act and look classy if she thought she was going home. Remember that she
could've still marketed herself to producers after the show's end but this pretty much shows that she's a self
-destructive ass. I doubt any producer would go near her after tonight's show. Her crap attitude just made all
the judges turn on her and none of the judges had anything good to say or any encouraging words after
her actions. Her choice to get right up in their faces and deliver her last song passive-aggressive really just put
the nail in the coffin of any chance of anyone wanting to work with her. I guess I'm more disappointed because I really, really
liked her in the beginning but as time went on, I just couldn't defend her lousy performances and bad
attitude. I guess she wanted to go out with a bang but instead she just looked like a douche. Good bye, good luck and good riddance!
Yes, she actually flapped her arms and ran across the
stage yelling "caw, caw".

Anoop Desai: Some Usher song - He actually says he wants to be an R&B singer? Seriously? He looks like
he'd be more at home in the IT department. Megan Joy Corkrey: Bob Marley's Turn the Lights
Down Low? - If you've been reading my website you'll know that I was the biggest fan of Megan but at this
point she's just not improving and she deserves to go home. Tonight she didn't sound good, she looked like a
homeless hippie and she hasn't been taking the criticism well. She's just too cocky now and needs to go. Sorry. Danny Gokey:
Rascal Flatts' What Hurts the Most - Not his best performance ever but he has such great charisma that he still does well.
Allison Iraheta: No Doubt's Don't Speak - I wish she wouldn't... but this is her first truly awful performance.
Bad guitar playing, her pitch was off and she looked bad. She might be 16 but she looks and sounds like a 30 year old waitress.
Scott MacIntyre: Billy Joel's I Love You Just The Way You Are - Wow, what a surprise. It was an
average performance but it was one of his better ones. The audience reaction didn't seem that enthusiastic. I'm
not a fan so I thought this was just average. Matt Giraud: Some song by the Fray - Rough start
but he gets better as the song builds. It almost looks like he gets some preferential treatment being allowed
to perform in the middle of the audience. Too bad this song doesn't have the energy to capitalize on his
location. Coming before the judges he doesn't look confident at all. Paula is tough on him and none of the judges like his performance.
Lil Rounds: Celine Dion's I Surrender - I really have grown to like Lil and she has a ton of potential but it
looks like she lost all of her confidence. It was a weak performance and I didn't like her makeover. They show
her kids and usually I would think that would be a bad move but her kids seem sweet and it may help her to get a few more votes. Adam Lambert:
Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music - An old hacky disco song with some new hacky antics from Adam. Well, what was supposed to be a
current version sounded so friggin' corny. Adam looked very pleased with himself on this one but I'm getting
really tired of his nasal high notes. One thing to look for, notice how he sticks his tongue out when he does high
notes. This actually helps him to sing them and comes from an old vocal exercise. Looks dorky, works great. I hated it. Kris Allen:
Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine - I'm no fan of Kris but this seemed like the only sincere
performance of the night. He made it his own which is more than anyone else did tonight. I think I'm now rooting for him to be in the top 3.
Bottom Line: I think Kris' performance was my favorite of the night. The bottom 3 will most likely be
Matt, Megan and Allison. It could possibly be Lil but I think she can come back and be strong again. Even
though Adam put on an exciting performance, I think anyone just listening will be able to hear that it wasn't
really that good. As far as originality, Kris and Danny are the only ones who stood out. Unfortunately, I don't
think this season we've had one brilliant moment.

Here we go with the
top 10 results show. I've heard many rumors that Paula won't be coming back next year but I've also heard that Kara might not be
back either. I like Kara but I might be the only one.
The first performance is the cheesy group sing that we're used to. Next up is Ruben Studdard who is
sweating more than anyone I've ever seen perform one song.
The bottom three this week are:
- Matt Giraud
- Michael Sarver
- Scott MacIntyre
There was a nice song by Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone but it felt like they were just trying to pad out
time for a full hour. Stevie Wonder showed how a real singer does it.
The end of the show was utterly predictable and a little unfair with Michael Sarver trying his best to sing with
soul when he's really a country singer. But even though he worked hard it wasn't even close. It's not that he's a
country singer because Garth Brooks could rock out some Motown, Sarver was just out of his league in this
competition and it was his turn to go home. At least he'll be part of the tour and make some $$$. This and
last night were probably the most boring American Idol shows this season and I hope they pick up some energy for next week.

Tonight is Motown night and these are
some of the most memorable songs in musical history. Let's see how the kids do.
Matt Giraud starts of the night with Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On: He's going sharp on all the falsetto high
notes. His overall pitch is a bit off and his dancing is awkward. All the judges loved this performance. Kris Allen
sings How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You): You can't hear his guitar at all so it's pretty much
a prop. He sings OK. Nothing special here. Simon thinks that Kris needs to be more confident and even
cocky in order to do well. I have to agree to a small extent because if you're too nice and quiet you won't be noticed.
Scott MacIntyre does Diana Ross' You Can't Hurry Love: He starts with a bit of a blues feel and is doing
nicely. He actually sings more in tune this time and the backup singers come out to help him out because it's
not like he can get up and dance around. His piano playing is pretty good but this isn't Piano Idol. Wow,
for the first time Simon and Randy didn't like his performance. Megan Joy Corkrey sings Stevie Wonder's For
Once In My Life: Megan has such great tone when she sings but when she's on stage she pushes her voice and
it doesn't sound as good and she goes out of tune. I can't defend tonight's performance and she's one of my
favorites. All of the judges hated this performance and I think she's a shoe-in for the bottom 3 tomorrow. Anoop Desai
sings The Miracle's Ooh Baby Baby: These are always the songs that sound good at lower
volumes and Anoop does a decent job. He's showing versatility but I don't think there's any chance he could
win. The judges are a bit harsh on him. Michael Sarver sings Ain't Too Proud To Beg: He
does an average job with the song. Not good or bad. I suspect the judges will rip him apart. Paula gives one of
her rare critical reviews, Simon says he has no chance and Randy and Kara are no easier. I feel bad for
Sarver because I think he's a nice guy but he really seems to take the criticism well. Lil Rounds
is going to do Heatwave and I think there are so many better songs that she could do well with
but I'm not picking the songs: Wearing an old fashioned dress and hair like Darth Vader's helmet really didn't
start her off right. She has a voice made for Motown and this song just didn't work for her. She could've
stole the show but she didn't and the judges seem to agree. Adam Lambert sings Tracks of My Tears: If he can
sing it without being corny he might have a moment tonight. Adam chooses to do this one acoustic and he's
dressed up a bit more with his hair a bit more masculine and he's doing a decent job. I think by doing an
understated performance it's more effective than another over the top cornball song. The judges seem to
like it. Oh yeah, he's looking a bit like a young Dean Cain. Danny Gokey sings Get Ready: He does a decent job
but nothing new, different or interesting about this performance. I wish he had done something like Let's
Get It On, Sexual Healing, Mercy Mercy Me or my favorite, What's Going On. He would've ruled on those! Allison Iraheta
sings Papa Was A Rolling Stone: Ooof, she's starting way too low. She loses the beat a
bit but ends up with her bread and butter power notes. Eh, I still don't like her but she's good. The judges love
this performance and Simon drwas a moustache on Paula and they can't stop laughing. That was more
entertaining than any of the performances for me. Final Thoughts: No one really blew me away tonight.
I guess it's because all these kids are too young to remember these songs and deliver them with the power
and respect due. The bottom performers will probably be Megan, Scott and Michael.

These opening group song numbers are
always awful. The corny dancing and bad singing should be considered exactly what these artists shouldn't do. OK, the
Ford shill commercials are way worse than the group song and dance.
Although not a fan, I was glad to see Anoop get another chance. It really looks like they want Sarver to
do well because they gave him a spotlight to tell a touching story about his daughter. Unfair unless
they give everyone a chance to share.
The Bottom Three:
- Allison Iraheta: I don't like here but she didn't deserve to be down there this week.
- Michael Sarver: He deserves to be in the bottom.
- Alexis Grace: I thought she did OK last night but I can't say I'm surprised.
Allison was the first to be saved and the last two were
Sarver and Alexis. Not surprisingly that Sarver was safe and Alexis had to sing again. I really felt sorry for
Alexis because she was put in a bad place. Having the drama of the elimination and having to sing to save
herself was just too much for her. She looked like she was almost in tears as she sang and it just looked like
she gave up. If she had any chance at winning, she wouldn't have ended up in the bottom this early.
I really hate when contestants or judges say that the ones going home have a bright career ahead of them
because that's a lie. When Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks are either dropped from their
labels or can't fill clubs what chance does the 13th contestant have? The worst thing for Alexis is that she
can't even do the tour which means extra money. Sarver, you're next.
One closing note, contestants need to stop saying that
they're doing it for their kids. Going on this show to hopefully live out thier dreams is the most selfish thing
they could do. What if they win, they go on the road for months, spend time in Los Angeles writing and
recording and their kids grow up without their parent around. It's worse if they're single parents! Think
money is more important? Look at how messed up Rod Stewart's kid is. He admitted he just wanted to
spend time with his father and never really knew him. This was one of the things that made him resort to drugs.

Michael Sarver - Some Garth Brooks Song: Missed the performance but caught his really bad after
performance interview where he didn't answer Kara asking him "How did you remember all the words" and
he also kind of was an ass to Simon when Simon said that he couldn't understand what he was singing. No
one will remember him in 2 months or less. Allison Iraheta - Patty Loveless' Blame it on Your
Heart: I know I'm one of the few who just don't like Allison or her voice but here she is again. She actually
looks better this week but the vocals are the same nasal sandpaper vocals that I'm not a fan of. If she were a bit
more modest I'd like her more but... Kris Allen - Another song by Garth Brooks: I haven't
been a fan of Kris but I liked this performance with the exception of the last out of tune note. He looked better
and seemed more comfortable than past weeks. Lil Rounds - Martina's McBride's Independence Day:
Wow, Lil gives her first bad performance. I was so disappointed when she sang the song a half step lower
than the original and there wasn't the normal excitement and power that she usually brings. Lil might end up in
the bottom this week. Disappointing. Adam Lambert - Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire: Great
video footage of Randy Travis who has clearly never met such a flamboyant... guy before. I agree with Travis
, when a song is this good you don't wreck it like the version Adam is singing here. Corny and for the first
time completely unappealing, Cash would not approve. The girls still scream but they screamed for Clay Aiken
and Sanjaya too. Awful. Adams first failure. Randy Jackson makes an odd comment about NIN and
clearly has never heard them... Randy Travis is speechless and not in a good way. Scott MacIntyre
- Martina McBride's Wild Angels: Randy Travis thinks this a bad song choice. There are
so many great country songs out there for guys and this isn't one of them. Again, pitch-wise Scott is the worst
but he has some sort of charm. I still think he shouldn't have made the top 13 and this doesn't change my mind.
Wow, bad "high" falsetto notes. Awful. When will everyone just close their eyes and realize that vocally, Scott is weak.
Alexis Grace - Dolly Parton's Jolene: Randy Travis loves it but I'm not sure yet. I would've much preferred
a rock version but the audience seems to have liked it. The judges seem to hate the performance. Rant
- On a side note, the commercials for the new Osbourne's show looks horrific. I'm an old school Ozzy
fan. I remember when Ozzy was a rock star not a reality TV clown. Danny Gokey - Carrie Underwood's Jesus Take the
Wheel: Danny is super nervous performing in front of Randy Travis and Randy looks skeptical. Looking like
Robert Downey Jr., Danny is doing a great performance so far. This was the only emotional
performance tonight. Paula is completely incoherent but hilarious. Danny takes the criticism with laughter and is
totally the nicest guy who can actually sing. Anoop Desai - Willie Nelson' You're Always On My
Mind: Anoop actually sounds good in practice but let's see how he can do live. I didn't like Anoop at all but I
think this is an awesome performance. It was great to hear him sing in a totally different way that was so much
better than before. Hopefully he'll make it to the next round. The judges really need to stop saying "he/she's
back" because it's getting old. Speaking of old hacky
cliche's Simon actually said he went from "zero to hero". That phrase should have been retired with Vanilla
Ice's movie. His look is better this week but I can't put my finger on what has changed. In the end interview he
reminds me of Ted in "How I Met Your Mother". Megan Joy Corkrey - Patsy Cline's Walking After
Midnight: I thought she sounded much better in practice than performance. She's sounding a little out of breath
and she's pushing the notes instead of letting her great tone come out. It turns out that she has the flu and in
the hospital and didn't get a real rehearsal so hopefully she won't go out this week. Matt Giraud
- Carrie Underwood's So Small: I don't like this guy at all but he gives a decent performance
and he looks better than last week. I think the stylists are getting to all the contestants and the guys are
actually looking more refined. Back to the performance, the last note is way out of tune. Bad way to end the
song but they still like this guy. Paula can't say "authenticity".

Updated live - Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson are set
to perform. The kids are introduced to their new living quarters, a beautiful mansion with indoor pool,
basketball court and bowling alley. Now they're singing a corny 70's style variety show version of The Jackson
5's "I Want You Back". They also do the predictable Ford commercial veiled as a music video.
Now the results:
- Michael Sarver is safe - seriously?
- Allison Iraheta is safe - not surprising
- Jasmine Murray - comes down to the stage
- Matt Giraud is safe
- Kris Allen is safe
- Megan Joy Corkrey - comes down to the stage
Jasmine sings but still ends up
going home. The judges won't save her. Next, Kanye West performs. Does anyone else find it hilarious that he comes out on
a singing show and uses Auto-Tune to help him sing in tune? (Antares Auto-Tune is a
software program or hardware effect that gives singers a vocoder-style effect)
The results continue:
- Scott MacIntyre is safe
- Alexis Grace is safe
- Danny Gokey is safe
- Anoop Desai is called to the stage
- Adam Lambert is safe
- Jorge Núñez is called to the stage
- Lil Rounds is safe
Kelly Clarkson performs her new song "My Life
Would Suck Without You". I don't think it's a great song and while she sounds great she doesn't look that good.
The results continue:
- Anoop is safe. Did you get that? Jorge goes home and Anoop is safe.
So Jorge Núñez and Jasmine Murray go home tonight. No
surprises here but I would've expected Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver to be the ones. Both will get one week to turn
things around but I think they've shown their limitations. Megan had better pick it up
next week otherwise she might be going home.

Oh No, songs from Michael Jackson? Expect some big
trainwrecks. I'm watching now and will update live.
Lil Rounds, mother of 3 sings "The Way You Make Me Feel". Terrible outfit but great performance. She
should cruise to the top 3. Scott MacIntyre, the blind guy sings "Keep the Faith"
. His piano playing is much better than his voice since
he's rarely on pitch. Sorry folks, I just don't think he's a great singer. Did Paula just say that the album
Dangerous was the top selling album in Norway? Norway has a population just larger than Los Angeles. Danny Gokey
, finally they focus on his family and not play the sympathy card for his wife. Danny sings "PYT"
. I don't like the opening but he quickly brings the energy. "Tenderoni?" Good energy but his voice
doesn't quite suit the song. He does his best to sell this song but maybe a bit over the top. It's hard to not like
this guy even though he kind of shouted most of the lyrics. Simon makes fun of his dancing but Danny has a
great sense of humor about it. He should make the top 3 on personality alone. Michael Sarver
, the singing oil rigger sings "You Are Not Alone". Meh. Good but not good enough to make
the top 10. He needs desperately to find an identity because being a nice guy isn't enough. Jasmine Murray
, the Southern cutie sings "I'll Be There". She's doing a good job but can she do R&B
against a much more powerful Lil Rounds? A few pitch problems but she looks great performing. She might
make it to the top 8 but not further. Kris Allen, from Arkansas sings "Remember the Time"
. Ugh, he uses a guitar as a prop and you can barely hear it at all. If the instrument doesn't add anything, they
shouldn't use it. Average vocal performance but I suspect the judges will like it more than me. Some bad
notes toward the end. He actually gets good judges reviews and a comparison to Jason Mraz. I disagree. Allison Iraheta
, this season's token 16 year old sings "Give In To Me". Looking like a 30+ midwestern
barmaid, she almost makes a song I've never heard tolerable but not really. I think the band's arrangement
made the song worse. She didn't sound good and her hair looks awful. This is the point of the competition
when she should be experimenting with her appearance. Probably my least favorite female performer. Anoop Desai
, the Indian dude sings "Beat It". Wow, what a big song to sing, let's see how he does. Is that a
Member's Only jacket? Just ok. Wow, Paula didn't like it. Simon says "horrible" and Kara and Randy agree.
Anoop might be tomorrow's first casualty. Jorge Núñez, the guy with the second largest set of
eyebrows sings "Never Can Say Goodbye". If you can't do it in the original key it just sounds weird and
this is no exception. The background singers are a bit off key. Average performance. Could go either way for
tomorrow's elimination. Megan Joy Corkrey, the odd blonde chick with
tatoos sings "Rockin' Robin". Horrible song choice but
she's actually adorable as she sings. Awful ending with
the "caw caw". Seriously, what was she thinking. I still like her and hope she makes it to the top 3. For some
reason they go to Gordon Ramsey for his opinion but he's not on mic so we can't hear it. Adam Lambert
, the goth/glam guy sings "Black or White". Amazingly enough, he sings it in the correct key
and starts light and then imposes his own personality. He started great but now he's so incredibly over the top
. Lots of energy but I'm a little disappointed in second half of the performance. Oh great, Paula is crying. Oh
jeez, Adam's crying. Matt Giraud, a guy that I don't really remember sings
"Human Nature". He does well until the falsetto part at
the end where he's out of tune. He looks worried as he gets up from the piano. The judges seem to like him but
I don't. Alexis Grace, the girl with the pink streaks in her hair
sings "Dirty Diana". She sounds good but she's behind the beat and a little out of breath. The band should be
playing more of a rock version of the song. Bad ending with a weak falsetto note instead of a strong head voice
high note. She can't really pull off the look but she's showing promise. Tonight's Best
: Adam, Lil and Danny. Tonight's Worst: Anoop, Scott, Michael and Jasmine.

Well tonight was the group 3 results show and the wild card picks show. I disagreed with
most of their picks but that just means that I might actually have to vote for the few I liked.
Let's recap the group 3 picks:
- Lil Rounds: Definitely deserves to be there, awesome voice.
- Scott McIntyre: Didn't think he should make it to the next round. When he sang, he confirmed
my opinion. Seems like a nice guy but his pitch is off. Listen to him without looking at the screen
and you might come around to my way of thinking.
- Jorge Nuñez: He's alright but not one of my faves.
The wild card picks are:
- Von Smith: Talented singer but I find him to be corny.
- Jasmine Murray: She has potential.
- Ricky Braddy: Honestly, I didn't even remember his performance so I have no opinion on him.
- Megan Joy Corkrey: Yes! My pick for possible top 3 and one of my faves.
- Tatiana Del Toro: I guess they needed the ratings.
- Matt Giraud: Disagree with this one too.
- Jesse Langseth: Don't like her either. Too much attitude.
- Anoop Desai: No opinion one way or another.
I was most surprised that Kristin McNamara didn't get
a wild card slot since her voice is better than most. Maybe someone might get sick and she'll step in. Hey,
anything could happen. Well, I hope your favorites got in because right now the only one I really actually like is
Megan. If you're upset that some of your favorites didn't get picked, just remember that this is a reality TV
show and they have the right to cherry pick the most diverse group in order to get the highest ratings and if
you doubt me, I've got one thing to say, Tatiana Del Toro. OK, I'm not a fan but she definitely will be
interesting to watch.

Von Smith: Marvin Gaye - You're All I Need To Get
By. Very theatrical but confident. Good voice but mugs for the camera way too much. Funny faces make me
not want to vote for him. Huge mouth but if he could tone down the faces, he'd be so much better.
Taylor Vaifanua: Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You. What a name... Starts it way too low and hits the high
note falsetto. Great personality but this performance won't get her to the next round. Trying to save it at the
end but she needed to hit the high note full voice. Judges point out that she did the same song and didn't
take a chance. No way she makes it to the next round. Alex Wagner-Trugman: Elton John - That's Why
They Call it the Blues. With his dancing, I'm sure Vote For The Worst will throw their support behind him.
Bad, corny, awful but not in any way that could be construed as positive. If he gets through, it's due to the
Sanjaya vote. Adriana Afsar: ABBA - The Winner Takes It All.
Rough start, she's off the beat. Good voice and good composure but her rhythm is way off making the song
feel odd. Almost a good last note but runs out of breath and the note goes sour. Ju'Not Joyner:
Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah. He's taking a boring song and almost making it
listenable. Still didn't like the song but doing it this low key was a risk that seemed to pay off.
Kristen McNamara: Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason. Hate the arrangement. It takes all of the soul
out of the song and sounds like a commercial. Good performance but not great. I had picked Kristen as a
possible top 3 contestant and now I'm not so sure. Nathaniel Marshall: Meat Loaf - I Would Do
Anything For Love. Meat Loaf has a huge baritone delivery and Nathaniel doesn't. This song just isn't
working. There's nothing in this performance special enough to put him through to the next level.
Felicia Barton: Alicia Keys - No One. I don't even
like the song when Keys does it so let's see how Felicia fares. Poor thing squeaks out a bad high note. A pro
can rally and make up for it and she does better the next time into the chorus. Ends well but the band
changes the chord underneath her note and it sounds off. She's talented but I'm not sure if this makes her
stand out enough. Scott McIntyre: Bruce Hornsby - Mandolin Rain.
We all know him as the "blind guy". Not a great performance song, there's no huge chorus, high notes,
heart wrenching lyrics. He's flat on a lot of notes. He
seems like a nice guy but there's no way he deserves to get to the next round. The judges are way too kind
because no one wants to beat up on the blind guy but the blind don't want pity, they want to be treated like
anyone else. Kendall Beard: Martina McBride - This One's For
The Girls. Even though she looks and talks like a 16 year old, her voice is much better than you'd expect.
Not the best Martina McBride to do as a showcase song but Kendall does a good job and might steal a
midwestern country vote to squeak into the next round but probably not. Jorge Nuñez:
Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Still working with a pretty thick accent,
Jorge sounds decent. Good vocal performance so we'll have to see what the country thinks when they vote.
Paula definitely sounds more coherent today. Simon says that maybe he shouldn't get rid of his accent.
Lil Rounds: Mary J. Blige - ? Not a fan of her name but she performs like a pro. In my opinion, the only
singer that should get an easy pass to the next round. Top 3: My prediction for tomorrow's top 3? Lil
Rounds, Kristen McNamara (I know, she probably doesn't deserve it for this performance but she'll do
better) and I don't really care about the rest but it might be Ju'Not or Scott...

What a results show! These mass eliminations are a bit
tough but it gives us a chance to see more people get a turn on the big stage than before. While most
of us assumed that Adam Lambert would get an easy pass to the finals, Megan Joy Corkrey was unfairly eliminated
and a completely undeserving Kris Allen squeaked
through. I also think that Allison Iraheta got the "young
girl" pass to the top 12. Yup, let's remember, a young
girl (Paris Bennet, Diana DeGarmo) always makes it through and now it's Iraheta's turn.
Oh yeah, Brooke White's new song was ok. The
words were nice and the melody was nice too. But will "nice" sell CDs?
OK here's my early pick for top 3. Adam Lambert
should cruise to the top 3 unless he gets too cocky
(remember Constantine? No? See what I mean...).
Danny Gokey should be there too. Sure, he's not quite
the ham as Lambert but he performs like a pro and
should appeal to just about everyone. The third slot?
I'm not sure. I'd like to see Megan get the wildcard
slot and return in the top 3 but I don't think that will
happen. Alexis Grace might improve enough to make it
and I'm not sure anyone in the 3rd group performing
next week can do it. So who's my 3rd pick? I'll take a
guess that Kristen McNamara or Alexis will get that
slot to keep it from being all guys. Disagree (and I'm sure you do)? Post a comment.

Yes, I know this comes late but I'm going to write it anyway.
Jasmine Murray: Sara Barellies' Love Song.
Jasmine has one of the best looks out there. She
"looks" like a star but I don't think her voice is
developed enough to win. She slid and strained up to the higher notes and I think she could do better.
Matt Giraud: Joe Satriani's Coldplay's Viva La Vida
. Such a subtle song doesn't really show off great
vocal talent but it can show weakness like this performance. His voice was so shaky and he looked
nervous. Not good in any way. This is when you
realize that these kids must be feeling so much pressure to perform well. Jeanine Vailes:
Maroon 5, This Love. Almost a good performance if you're not listening closely but she
was completely off the beat and she was out of breath and her pitch was bad. Nick Mitchell:
Dreamgirls' Soundtrack, And I'm Telling You... Nick's performance was possibly the
most entertaining one in AI history. Sure, he's not
going to win but with a performance like this he might
make it onto a sitcom. I'll remember this one. Allison Iraheta:
Heart's Alone. I seem to be the only
one who didn't like this performance. A little shouty
and I just don't think she has the image to win. Kris Allen:
Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror.
Ugh... Didn't like this at all. Kris seems like a great kid
but I'm not sure who thought this was good. But we know he made it anyway...
Megan Joy Corkrey: Corinne Bailey Rae, Put Your Records On. I think Megan is one of the only
contestants that has an original look and sound. Even
though this is a bit of a rough vocal performance and the weird twisty dance she does was a bit offputting,
she's interesting. I'm fascinated by her and I think that
even if she doesn't make it back in the wildcard round, she might have a shot at a real career.
Matt Breitzke: Tonic's If You Could Only See. Matt
has no idea what this song is about and it's only a good
song when Tonic sings it. It's not a love song, it's a
song of desperation as Emerson Hart stated that he wrote this song to try to explain his love for an older
woman to his parents. He also said that the relationship
crashed and burned later so since it's kind of a sad
song, it doesn't make for a good performance piece for anyone else. Jesse Langesth:
Kim Carne's Bette Davis Eyes. Is Jesse a theater student because she sure acts like it and
I don't mean that as a compliment. Doing a song like
this is an odd pick, especially to keep it just like the
original. Jesse tries to do a "sexy" performance and I
don't think she pulls it off. Decent voice but no way she could win. Kai Kalama:
Jimmy Ruffin's What Becomes of the Broken Hearted. You have to have a certain type of
R&B voice to do this song justice and I'm disappointed
. Kai is so likable that it's hard to see him not do well. Mishavonna Henson:
Train's Drops of Jupiter: While I don't think she has the image to win, I'm in the
minority who thinks her voice sounds great here. Much
better than some that were regarded as better (Iraheta)
. As much as I'd like to see her get another chance, I don't think it'll happen.
Adam Lambert: The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction.
This is the guy we were waiting for. As a theater
student, Adam's performance is predictably over the top but he has moments where he shows the potential
to win it all. I think he'll easily make the top 3.
All of the performances are now available on iTunes.
American Idol should reveal who the biggest sellers are!

Jackie Tohn: Elvis' A Little Less Conversation.
Started too low. Over the top. Corny but she's interesting. Ricky Braddy:
Leon Russell's A Song For You. This
is a hard song to do justice to and it didn't quite happen. Not bad but not good either.
Alexis Grace: Aretha Franklin's Never Loved A Man
. Alright. Good but not great. She has a lot of potential. Brent Keith:
Hick Town? Not a great song choice because it doesn't show a great vocal range. Corny
country and not cool at all. There are so many great
country songs to choose from and this didn't work at all for him. Stevie Wright:
Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me.
Idol's first trainwreck. Started too low and she was so
nervous that she didn't have any good moments. Anoop Desai:
Didn't like the song but he has charisma. Casey Carlson:
The Police - Every Little Thing She Does is Magic. No one should ever cover the Police.
That being said, not good. Like a pageant contestant.
Too much winking and mugging for the camera and a
bland delivery. Didn't like the changing of "she" to
"he"She would do so much better with a sweet ballad. Michael Sarver:
Gavin DeGraw's I Don't Want To Be. I'm thinking your big buddy at karaoke night.
Looks awkward and nervous. Not a great performance. Ann Marie Boskovich:
Carole King's Natural Woman. Almost a good performance but a bit shaky.
With more confidence she could do much better. Stephen Fowler:
Michael Jackson's Rock With You.
Safe. The backup singers hit a line out of tune. In his
high sustained note, his voice cracked a bit. I like him
but it wasn't a great performance. The judges are
ripping him apart. I hope Stephen improves and makes
it to the later rounds because he's one of the few where I like his personality.
Tatiana DelToro: Whitney Houston's Saving All My
Love. It's hard to know how much of her personality is
a put on. If it's not a put on, she's nuts! But she can
actually sing. She's showing better composure than all
of the other female singers and she carries herself as if
she were a seasoned singer. She looks decent but I'm
distracted by how big her arms look in the dress. She
makes this look easy and is by far the best performer of
the night. The judges are having a hard time saying nice
things about her but she's stealing the whole show
tonight. OK, she's pretty much admitting that with a
background in marketing that it's all an act. Danny Gokey:
Mariah Carey's Hero. Danny is doing good. The best male performance of the night by far.
He has a good voice and seems like a really nice guy.

If you're watching the new
season of American Idol, you're probably like me wondering, "who the heck is
Kara DioGuardi, the new judge?". Well, she's not just another pretty face thrown in
for eye candy, she has legitimate songwriting and producing credits and has worked on the show behind
the scenes for years.
In a nutshell:
- Kara is 38 and is of Albanian and Italian heritage
- Kara has worked with Celine Dion, David
Archuleta, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, and Paula Abdul.
- She has over the last four years, been awarded
10 BMI Pop Awards for having written the most performed songs on radio. From her catalog of
several hundred songs, over 264 have been released on major labels worldwide; and over
165 have appeared on multi-platinum selling albums.
- Her publishing company, Arthouse is responsible
at least in part of the of the following songs:
Cassie's "Me & U", Jim Jones' "We Fly High",
Nick Lachey's "What's Left of Me", David
Archuleta's hit single "Crush", Mika's "Grace
Kelly", OneRepublic's "Apologize" and "Stop
and Stare" and Faith Hill's "Lost".
So since Kara's job is really picking stars I think she'll
be a great addition to the show. So far she's honest
and I hope that she'll be a permanent judge.
American Idol kids, here's the way you cover Neil
Diamond. It might not be the best singing but it's
definitely more entertaining than any performance on American Idol yesterday or tonight.
I guess I'm so used to Paula Abdul being nutty that last
night's screwup didn't even register with me. Everyone
on the radio and TV are talking about it, some saying
that American Idol is fixed and she read too far on her
script but I think that Paula was just a little "distracted"
and she heard the rehearsals. All the contestants get to
rehearse both of their songs on the big stage before the
show and I'm sure Paula and the other judges are
around during this time. It's not hard to believe that
Paula got confused and thus the mix up. The best part
is Randy and Simon hearing her screw up and not
stepping in earlier. They know it's good TV when Paula gets goofy.
