Classmates TV - Closure is Overrated

I'm flipping channels and I come across this travesty of a show. This is the most depressing thing I've ever seen! People who haven't grown or moved on since High School seek to either reunite with a friend or seek to confront someone from their past. While we've seen this on the Jenny Jones show, this show has two reunions per half hour with plenty of pictures & old video of the people so you feel their emotions and why they would want to see someone again. This part is interesting and gets you inside the people's heads. The other person usually has no idea who wants to see them again. One piece of advice, if a talk show calls you and says someone wants to see you... HANG UP!
I think we all have had painful experiences in our youth. The key is to learn from them and move on. Closure is overrated! It never feels better. I think the people who want closure have a fantasy about the other person begging for forgiveness but this happens maybe one time out of a thousand and it ain't happening for you! Move on. Write a letter (and never mail it), go see a therapist, talk to friends but don't confront your bully/ex-lover/ex-friend unless it's part of your recovery. Move on (I can't say this enough). If you're having a problem with letting go, I would recommend the best selling book Codependent No More by Melody Beattie. This is a book that has helped millions of people get past damaging relationships. Trust me, if you are still clinging to people you need this book. It will help you move on and live a better and healthier life!
Back to the show, watch how the other party usually doesn't care or doesn't even remember the first person. It's depressing knowing that the person who most greatly affected your life doesn't even remember you. Move on. Move on to another channel.
