Jay & Silent Bob

Rating : 5 out of 5 Stars for Kevin Smith Fans, 3 out of 5 stars for non-Smith fans.

I'll keep this review short. If you haven't watched Kevin Smith's movies before, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back would seem like a juvenile, pot-themed movie.  For fans like myself, this movie was made for us, and it also happens to be juvenile and pot-themed.  J&SB is littered with references to all of Kevin's previous movies. It is, after all the fifth movie in the series (see the Kevin Smith Catalog).
J&SB has a thin premise of the title characters going to Hollywood to wreak vengeance on the studio that's making a movie of their comic book likenesses.  This is perfect in the wake of comic book adaptations like The X-Men.
It really takes a good knowledge of all of Kevin's movies to get all the jokes in J&SB.  For those who haven't seen any of his movies , check the list on the right and buy or rent them.  If you like smart dialogue and jokes from subtle to absurd, start watching! Kevin has a huge cult following and it's no accident!  What are you still reading this for, go see the movie!

The Kevin Smith Catalog : If you buy a movie, be sure to get the DVD. Kevin's DVDs always have extra scenes and other cool stuff.

Clerks : Kevin Smith's original independent movie. Great dialogue!

Mallrats : Jason Lee gives a stellar performance along with Ben Affleck and a great cameo by Stan Lee.

Chasing Amy : Maybe the first lesbian-themed movie. Great Jason Lee monologues, great characters and touching scenes.

Dogma : One of my favorite movies. If you haven't seen any Kevin Smith movies this is where you should start!  Funny, thought provoking comedy with semi-religious overtones. A great movie!

Clerks (Animated TV Show) : The short lived animated TV show.  A must for fans!

An Evening With Kevin Smith (DVD) : A Q&A film of Kevin Smith. A must have for any fan!
