What?  A Big Band special? Maybe 5 years ago when swing dancing was in. But now? It would be fun, well funny, if they did a rap week. Diana DeGarmo trying Eminem. That would rule! It would keep me laughing for the rest of the year.  But seriously, this was a Showtunes special more than a true Big Band show.
This show had each artist doing 2 songs each and also a spoken intro to the second song.

Diana DeGarmo opens with Someone To Watch Over Me.  She sings sweetly and was actually better than usual.  Then she did a Judy Garland hit Get Happy.  Randy & Paula gave compliments but Simon said she sounded like an "old soul" and made other comments you couldn't tell if they were good or bad.

George Huff sang Cheek to Cheek and actually sounded different! It was pretty nice to hear some sort of versatility in his voice. I was really surprised.  Next was the Loius Armstrong classic, What A Wonderful World.  George did a good job with both songs and I finally think he deserves to be in the top 3 but Randy & Simon would disagree and say that it was a "safe" performance.

La Toya London sang Too Close For Comfort.  I was pretty much falling asleep by this point.  It took all the dedication I could muster to even finish writing this sentence. She stumbled over her spoken intro to her second song, Don't Rain On My Parade from the show Funny Girl but she belted it out and made up for the first song's lackluster delivery.  All three judges liked her performances.

Jasmine Trias was next singing, The Way You Look Tonight.  She wasn't smooth in her spoken transition into the next song Almost Like Being In Love.  This definitely wasn't her style and she had the weakest performance in the show.  Randy & Simon weren't impressed and who cares about Paula's opinion?

Finally, Fantasia Barrino sang a big band version of Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love?  What the..??? She should've done a legitimate big band song instead of a faux version.  Whatever. I think she could've done so many true showtunes and killed but this song kinda sucked.  The next song was a Barbara Streisand song, What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life?, which she dedicated to her daughter. All judges loved the performance.  Paula cried and Simon said that Fantasia and La Toya are just in a different league. True.

My prediction is that Jasmine is the next to go home.
