 The graphics are simply amazing!
Is This The Best Game of 2003?
In a word. Yes. There was so much hype on this game that I avoided it. I mean, another lame Star Wars game? But no, this one has an actual plot, great dialogue, a lot of different worlds to
explore and more detail than a Star Wars fan could ask for. I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan but I'm officially hooked!
KOTR is an incredibly involved Role Playing Game set in the Star Wars Universe that surpasses any other Star Wars game or for that matter, any other RPG. But beware, it isn't an
action/adventure games. It's not about twitch reflexes as much as strategy. This isn't about blasting
through levels. Combat is based on RPG style statistics. Much of it is automated but of course, you can make decisions on how to battle and strategy but you're not actually taking aim with a
blaster or taking personal control of your lightsaber. At first the game seems very linear but it opens up more once you get off the planet. Granted, it's
still a bit linear then but too open ended isn't good either. The voice acting and writing take center stage for this game (which is rare). Depending on who you
choose to travel with, they'll add comments and sometimes comedy at places where you might not expect. My favorite so far is an evil robot who while translating languages for a peace treaty begs
to kill the guy you're negotiating with. The cool thing is that you can either ignore him or if you choose the dark side, let him go!
You'll face many varied opponents. Make sure you're prepared when you get to this guy!
Replayability is guaranteed since you can go either light or dark side. The experience is more
different than you think. Of course both have their ups and downs along with specific force powers.
In the game there are small mini games like a card game, swoop bike races, and so on. These
don't detract from the storyline but instead give another dimension to this already amazing game. If RPGs are your style, you must play this one. But if you're looking for a slash and hack with a
lightsaber or a Star Wars version of Halo, move on. This is definitely a thinking man's/woman's
game. Invest the 80+ hours for an experience that you'll actually remember as not being a waste of time, like the last two Star Wars movies.
